We might not see Smokey in person again, but He'll see us just the same. All that were touched by Smokey owe him a warm heart and a smile. So keep yours always for him…in sunny days and in the rain.

Smokey Joe was like the "Grizzly Adams" of the Gulf Coast. At peace with all the creatures of the land and sea, he honored them by immortalizing their bones in his beautiful sculptures, while surrounding himself with the wildest variety of people, pets, and activities that "Pensatopia" had to offer him. You will be dearly missed, my friend.

I took this pic in 2010. He was riding a bike made of three recycled bikes and carrying a sign... we had a good laugh about his fossil fuel bike.
May we smile each time we remember him.
