when I was a young girl I LOVED the Cubs even tho I lived on a farm in Iowa. I remember Phil cavaretta when he was managing the Cubs also. One sunday the Cubs were behind, and managed to load the bases.I THINK it might have been the last half of the ninth, and he put himself in as a pinch hitter. He hit a grand slam to win the game. I never forgot that day,, It was such a reward for my faithful loyalty to my Cubs. He was such a great player!! I loved alot of players, such as Hank Sauer and Andy Pafko, but Phil Cavaretta was my favorite! My sympathies to his family!
