Fr. Roszko was one of my favorite teachers at Father Judge High School. His enthusiasm and passion for his teaching and life was infectious. I will remember his booming and articulate voice announcing our football games. But most of all, I will remember him for my wife and marriage. I started dating my wife in high school and through some rocky years in college. Post college, my wife went to a retreat at the Dominican Retreat House where she was trying to discern if I was the right man for her and her future (which I did not know). Fr. Roszko just happened to be at that same retreat that weekend. My wife ran into him and they started talking. She found out he taught at Judge and asked him if he knew me. He not only knew me, but proceeded to rave about me and all my good qualities. It was clear there was a Higher Power at work and my wife took it as a sign that she was on the right path with me. 28 years later, it is still a favorite story with my wife and children. I will remember him fondly always and keep him in my prayers.

So long Fr. Roszko. I have known you for over 7 decades. Grew up together and went to school together. I have never known a finer person and priest. You will be missed. Rest in peace Father.

I am sad to hear of Fr Roszko's passing. He was a big part of why Father Judge HS was such a special place. He was a true Salesian gentleman of god. He'd do anything for a student, had a great sense of humor and always was a huge leader in school spirit. My favorite memory was one of the greatest pregame speeches I ever heard. It was prior to 1985 football playoff game at the Vet on the blue bus. "Gentlemen, the first time McDevitt beat us, I took my hat off in salute to our opponent. Tonight gentlemen!!! The HAT STAYS ON!!!!!!!" Great guy and teacher.
