HENRY GROVE Obituary

GROVE


HENRY S. GROVE III, 80, of Spring House PA, died on April 16, 2014. He was born in Chestnut Hill to Henry S. Grove 2nd and Jane (nee Galloway).
He graduated from Springfield High School (Montco) and while there he earned a full scholar-ship to Princeton University where he joined Charter Club and graduated in 1955. He secured a position with J&L Steel, was married and lived in Pittsburgh and Atlanta before returning to Philadelphia.
He was hired by Peirce-Phelps 1961, and in 1965 launched the video systems division. Over 34 years he grew the division into one of the world's largest videoconferencing systems integrators and a leading provider of related products and services. He was widely recognized as a pioneer and leader in the industry.
Mr. Grove enjoyed summers in Beach Haven, NJ and annual travel and played golf, squash, tennis and sailed most of his life. He is remembered by many for his friendship and integrity as well his razor wit, room-brightening grin and heartfelt laughter.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joan (nee Hemmerly); 3 sons and his 6 grandchildren and his sister.
A Service will be held in his memory on May 25, 2014 at Chelten Church, 1601 Limekiln Pike, Dresher PA at 2 P.M.
