I am Janns baby brother, Steve. Thank you for the postings. I always knew your life continues through those you influence.
Five years on, she still has life.

Just recently, a group of survivors that have become close friends were talking about how we came to know each other. There were at least four of us that met because Jan had pushed each of us to come to Camp Make-a-Dream. Most of he others had come to camp because one of Jan's recruits had recruited them.
Jan's enthusiasm and desire to help total strangers known only on a chat site has created a legacy that lives on as we continue to share camp with new sisters.
Because Jan, brought us together I have an amazing circle of friends scattered around the US and Canada that I otherwise never would have met.
Jan's memory is truly a blessing.

I met Janice on-line in an Ovarian Cancer chat group. I had no idea that there was a camp / retreat for OVCA survivors, until Jan posted about Camp Mak-a-Dream in Montana. For me, it might as well have been on the moon, as I was completely penniless at the time. But, she convinced me to apply for both camp and financial assistance. When I was approved for both, it was a turning point in my healing. I excitedly texted her to tell her I was coming to camp and, I'd see her there! All I had left to do was figure out where to stay in Missoula the night before camp started. I told her that I'd figure it out, even if I had to sleep on the airport floor! She then offered to let me share her hotel room. I was stunned by her generous offer as I was essentially a stranger. We had only met on the internet.
Unfortunately my search for alternate sleeping arrangements was futile and I ended up accepting her kind offer.
Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the hotel and was given my own private room! What an incredible, luxurious gift! My husband and I had been living in one tiny bedroom in my daughter and son in law's house with their two small children. I hadn't had any privacy or quiet, alone time since my diagnosis. It felt like heaven! Finally meeting Janice was a gift in itself. Her determination to get the most out of each and every day was truly inspiring. When we got to camp, it quickly became clear that about a third of the women were there, because Jan had convinced them to come!
Camp has been the single most important part of me learning to live life as a cancer survivor. Many of the women that Jan recruited for camp that year are still alive. We stay in contact and periodically wonder how we would have gotten through it all, if Jan hadn't connected us. She has left a wonderful legacy of strength, survivorship and connection that few people outside of camp know about. Thank you Jan. You were my angel when I needed one most. Miss you!

My husband and I were friends with Jann for many years. She was the sweetest person with a great sense of humor and she was one of the kindest people I have had the blessing to know. Though we moved away to another state years ago we kept in contact through emails and phone calls and she always made each conversation feel like we were sitting together face-to-face and sharing memories together. We will miss her dearly and treasure our memories of her and keep her close in our prayers and thoughts. Jann was one of those special people that come into your life and spread joy with their friendship through good times and bad. She was a gem. Our deepest condolences to her son and family.

Jann and I worked together for many years. She was the brightest medical coder and billing expert I ever met. She was kind and thoughtful and always had the ability to make me laugh, no matter what was happening. She will be missed.

Jann will always be in my heart. I first met Jann on Inspire.com. I was searching for information on this horrible disease that had taken over my life when I stumbled across a post by Jann asking if anyone else was going to camp. Camp? What camp? Jann happily shared information about camp and encouraged me to apply for both camp and the transportation scholarship. I was accepted and the only obstacle remaining was paying for a hotel room the night before camp started. Jann generously convinced me to share a room with her then somehow arranged for me to have my own room paid for.
At camp, we shared a cabin together with 4 other women and I was privaledged to get to know her in person. Her strength, intelligence, fighting spirit and her generosity have made a permanent impression on me. I am so glad that I was able to see her at camp this year shortly before her passing. Meeting Jann and her getting me to camp has given my life back to me. The world is a better place for her having been here. I will miss her.
Hugs and prayers to all her family.

My deepest condolences to the family. All of us at Fox Chase who had the opportunity to participate in her medical care over the years were struck by the strength and grace with which she faced her illness. I know she will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered.
Fondly,
Stephen C. Rubin, M.D.

I was virtual friends with Jann. We shared a diagnosis, but more importantly we shared a philosophy that says life is great and the people you have in your life really make it grand even fun!
She will continue as an inspiration for me and the others lucky enough to have been touched by her spirit!
Hugs
Margaret
