To the family: May the comfort from family and friends continue to strengthen you, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. I recently revisited Port Richmond. I was raised in the middle of Schiller Street. As I walked to Almond Street, I noticed the box of flowers with the cross prominently displayed. I had no idea of the significance. Well, now I know.
With deepest sympathy,

Port Richmond is full of special people.
> >
> Here is what a very special person had to say on behalf of all the residents
of
> Port Richmond. Thank you for sharing this Karen K.
>
>
>
> ON May 17, the community of Port Richmond held a Mass for Sgt. Stephen
> Liczbinski at Nativity BVM Church. I was asked to speak at the end of the Mass
> on behalf of the people of my neighborhood to address the Liczbinski family.
> This is adapted from what I said.
>
>
>
> Let me tell you about the corner of Almond and Schiller streets.
>
>
>
> You don't just pass by Almond and Schiller; you have to be going there. It's
an
> intersection of porch homes and minivans, kids playing hockey in the street,
> people sitting on their front steps.
>
>
>
> And now it's infamous for something else.
>
>
>
> When Sgt. Stephen Lizcbinski gave the ultimate sacrifice on May 3, I found
> comfort that he was at Almond and Schiller streets.
>
>
>
> Sure we want the good guys like Stephen to pass away of old age, in their
sleep,
> after having a dinner of steak and ice cream, and watching the Flyers win the
> Stanley Cup. But he died on May 3 at the corner of Almond and Schiller in Port
> Richmond.
>
>
>
> He took his last breaths and spoke his last words to Erik and Tom Krajewski,
and
> Kevin Pettacio. He wasn't alone. Nancy Barton's kitchen towels were held
against
> his chest and her prayers were said for his soul. He didn't die alone.
>
>
>
> In times of devastation and violence, it's human instinct to run away from the
> danger. But the people of Port Richmond ran into it. Stephen Lizcbinski didn't
> die alone on that corner.
>
>
>
> Ruthie Gaydosh ran toward the shots when a police officer was lying in the
> middle of her street. She had a tough question to answer when she got home.
>
>
>
> Her son asked, "Mom, why did you go outside? You always told us to get down
and
> hide if we ever heard gunshots.
>
> "
>
> Ruthie told her son: "We went to help the police officer. He was hurt and he
> needed our help.
>
> "
>
>
> This is a window into what the people are really like in Port Richmond. Human
> kindness is overflowing at Almond and Schiller streets.
>
>
>
> We are not Society Hill. We are not Rittenhouse Square. We are not Chestnut
> Hill. We are Port Richmond.
>
>
>
> We send our children to the school that we went to, and our parents went to.
We
> still have corner stores were we buy the milk and the bread. We play the daily
> number, but not with the state lottery, if you get my drift.
>
>
>
> Our kids still play at the Rec and we know who has the wrench we're not
supposed
> to have to turn on the fireplug on a hot summer day.
>
>
>
>
> Our kids get baptized and make their First Holy Communion, but we know the
only
> way they're getting into heaven is if Father Dan Moriarity gave them a
lollipop
> when he saw them in the neighborhood.
>
>
>
>
> Everybody has a parking spot, legal or not. We live on water ice in the
summer.
> Sitting on the steps out front is more entertaining than "Dancing with the
> Stars." In fact, we bet those stars aren't up to a polka by the Polish
American
> String Band.
>
>
>
> We over-decorate our homes for Easter and Christmas and St. Paddy's Day and
> Halloween.
>
>
>
> Don't knock on the door during an Eagles game on Sunday.
>
>
>
> Our kids play for the Tigers or the Leprechauns or at the PAL with Officer
> Ernie. We go to church. Our grandmoms still wear the plastic babushkas when
they
> sweep their pavements or when it rains.
>
>
>
> We take the 60 bus and then the El to get into town. We know all the dirty
words
> in Polish. If there's dirt on our pavement, we sweep it up. Our corners have a
> bar, a pizza place, a beauty shop or a deli, and that's OK because we go to
all
> of them.
>
>
>
> Sneakers hang from our telephone wires and clothes still hang on our backyard
> clotheslines. We never got reception for Wi-Fi Philadelphia, and that's okay,
> too. Our kids aren't sitting in our parks on the Internet on their laptops -
> they're riding bikes or shooting hoops.
>
>
>
> We are Port Richmond. Our rowhouses are so close together, we know when our
> neighbors are going to have a baby before the OB-GYN does.
>
>
>
> And Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski died in our house - but he didn't die alone. And
he
> told those who held him in their arms at Almond and Schiller, "Tell my wife
and
> kids I love them" because he knew we would. And he knew he didn't die alone.
> Because Port Richmond takes care of its own.
>
>
>
> Joey Vento, of Geno's, held a 24-hour marathon selling his famous cheesesteaks
> with all proceeds going to Sgt. Liczbinski's family. It was about 9 p.m. when
I
> took my new dog, Porkroll, for a walk to Almond and Schiller.
>
>
>
> A van pulled up and two boys dressed in their Port Richmond Tigers uniforms
> hopped out. They had a cheesesteak in their hand, and asked the police officer
> standing guard if they could leave it at the memorial for Sgt. Lizcbinski.
>
>
>
> So they left a cheesesteak atop a bouquet of roses. I walked up to the
memorial
> and genuflected, kissed my hand and then touched the police barricade and
> proceeded to walk home. Half a block later, I notice that something was in
> Porkroll's mouth. It was Sgt Liczbinski's cheesesteak. Needless to say, later
> that night when Porkroll had gas, I blamed it on Sgt. Liczbinski.
>
>
>
>
> There is an old Polish proverb that goes something like "It's hard to find a
> poor man's friends and family when he dies.
>
>
>
> The outpouring of love and support we've seen stretch over Port Richmond and
the
> city since May 3 proves that Stephen Liczbinski was one of the richest men in
> the world.
>
>
>
> On behalf of the entire Port Richmond community, God bless Sgt. Liczbinski.
And
> God bless Port Richmond and the people at an intersection called Almond and
> Schiller streets.
>
>
>
> They're good people. Always have been, always will be.

He'll have a great aerial view of all you do.
May 14, 2008
To the Liczbinski Family:

Our sympathy is with you during your time of loss.

The holy bible speaks of death as an enemy of mankind and that is especially true when it strikes during the prime of life.

There is no doubt that your loved one affected many lives in a positive way, and he will be missed greatly.

Please find comfort in Saint John's words at Revelation 21:3&4 where he was inspired to write that sickness, pain, sorrow and death will soon be things of the past. He was told to record these faithful and true words. We can look at these words now and have a confident hope for the future.

During our times of loss, we have found comfort in these passages, and we hope that they bring comfort to your family also.

Sincerely,
May 14, 2008
Thank you, sir
Rest in Peace

OUR FALLEN HERO

Every morning he dressed in blue,

He chose the job that heroes do;

To keep it safe for me and you.

There are no words that can express,

This feeling, this sadness, our emptyness.

We're sorry that you died this way,

Too sorry for words...to sorry to say.

You gave your life to keep us safe,

In God's Kindgom you have a place.

We will not forget what they have done,

We will not give up...they have not won.

You have not died in vain our friend

and in the end we will meet again.

Thank you for protecting us, may you rest in peace.
God be with you and your family, today and everyday....
May 14, 2008
As a fellow family of the Philadelphia Police department, my heart goes out to you and your family. To lose your husband/father in such a violent way is unfathomable and so unfair. Each day when my husband leaves for work i always fear the dreaded news of him being injured or worse. I pray for all of you to stay strong, remember him as he would want to be remembered, but also remember, you are not alone. There are so many people who are there for you. Look to any police family for support and you will find it. I hope all the memories you have will get you through the darkest of days so one day you realize again that the sun is shining. It will take time, I promise, the sun will shine for you all again. God Bless you all.
May 14, 2008
TO THE FAMILY:

God has promised under His righteous Kingdom that soon only the meek ones will inherit the earth. (Psalms 37:9-11,29) And the Scriptures also assures us that the satisfying conditions in Paradise will not be marred by disabilities or sickness, or be cut short by death: “No resident will say: ‘I am sick.’” (Isaiah 33:24)
May 13, 2008
You will be greatly missed. 20,000 of your best friends will be thinking about you tonight at Wachovia Center.

May the Flyers bring you a victory.

This ones' for you!
May 13, 2008

May 13, 2008
I just wanted to tell the kids of the family to stay strong. I, too, have lost my father nearly three years ago and he was only 41. It is not easy, but with support of your friends and family you will find the strength to get by. I sincerely thank your father for everything that he has done. I will keep your family in my thoughts.

Safely Home

I am home in heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed I am now at peace forever, Safely home in HEaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but Jesus' love illumined every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread, and wit Jesus' arm to lean on could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still, try to look beyond earth's shadows Pray to trust out Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand, Do it now while life remaineth, you shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed He will gently call you Home, Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!

Our sympathy goes out to Steve's family, friends and co-workers. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for making Port Richmond safe!!!! God Bless

May 12, 2008
It is truly sad to lose the one you love in death, even though King Solomon said that unforeseen occurrences befall us all (Eccl.9:11). We still have a hard time dealing with death. Jesus did promise that one day in the near future that he would bring all those ones back to life in the resurrection (John 5:28) Have faith the best is yet to come. (Rev. 21:3,4)
May 12, 2008
To The Family
My heart goes out to you. It's so sad to loose a loved one, it brings heartache and pain that seems to never stop. It's comforting to know that Almighty God knows and feels your pain. That is why he has given us his words to comfort us. Psalm 34:18 assures us,"He is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." He is the "God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3) Soon our hearts will be free of pain, because Jesus promise at John 5:28,29 that there will be a "resurrection". This gives us hope of being reunited with our love ones, right here on earth. Until that time God tells us at Psalm 55:22 "Throw your burden upon him and he WILL sustain YOU." May your memories of Stephen along with prayer help you through the days ahead.
My Deepest Sympathy
May 11, 2008

A Great day is coming

Heavens gates will open wide,

And all who love the Lord will enter in;

To join with their loved ones

who in Jesus Christ have died;

Our eternal life in Heaven to begin.

And the Lord Himself will greet us on that great and glorious day

And with the smile of the proudest Father He’ll look at us and say,

Welcome Home Children! This is the place I’ve prepared for you.

Welcome home children, now that your work on earth is through.

Welcome home children, you who have followed so faithfully

Welcome home children! Welcome home children!

Here where I am you shall always be

Forever rejoicing with me.

A GUARDIAN ANGEL PRAYER FOR FRIENDS
Guardian Angel, watch over those whose names you can read in my heart. Guard over them with every care and make their way easy and their labours fruitful. Dry their tears if they weep; sanctify their joys; raise their courage if they weaken; restore their hope if they lose heart, their health if they be ill, truth if they err, repentance if they fail.
God Bless you.

My heart goes out to your family at this very difficult time. Stephen is a true hero making the ultimate sacrifice for his "friends". I am a former Philadelphian who's three brothers were on the force at the same time. I remember the feeling every time they went out to protect our streets, worried that they may not come home safely, but I cannot even imagine the pain and heartache you are experiencing because Stephen did not. He will always be alive in your heart and your memories will be with you always. Thank you Stephen for your dedication and bravery to help keep us safe. Your family will be in my prayers.
May 09, 2008

"Angels In Blue"

I had this friend you see, who loved
God, Country, You and me.

My friend went to work day or night
the peace to keep, so you and I could sleep.

He worked the holidays and weekends, away from family and friends. To keep this peace for you and me.

Each day this friend put his life on the line to spare yours and mine.

Then one day he paid the price, he gave his life.

You've done well my friend, patrolling these earthly streets. Now it's time to walk on Heaven's beat.

The next time you see a Police Officer or two, remember they are one of God's Angels in Blue.

And God said; "Blessed are the Peace Makers."

Please accept our condolences to the entire Liczbinski family. Our heart goes out to each of you.
May 09, 2008

Dearest Liczbinski Family,

Please accept my family's deepest sympathy and most profound gratitude. I lost my father in January and, at the age of 35, I have never felt such pain and heartache. Sgt. Liczbinski was a hero, not just in his tragic death, but every single day he put on that uniform and chose to let his life take second to the lives of every Philadelphian. We owe him, and we owe you a debt that can never be repaid.

May you find comfort in each other right now, and please know that you are in the prayers of my family and an entire city.

To the Liczbinski, I just got done watching the ceremony on tv. You are all so strong. I am a sister of a Philadelphia Police Officer and I don't know that I would ever be able to be that strong. Your husband/father was a Great Hero and will be remembered by all. He will be with you always. Thank You Sergeant Liczbinski for helping make the streets of Philadelphia a better place to live!!
May 09, 2008
Dear Liczbinski Family, I am truly sorry for the loss of your hero. I know he is still with you watching over you and praying for you. When I lost my father, I was 32. I felt cheated until I realized that I was blessed to have had an incredible father for 32 short years when some children never have the experience of ever having a good dad. I know its hard now, but I hope in time you will be able to have that same feeling also. It is obvious to see by your actions and words, that you also feel blessed to have had him as your Husband, Father, and hero. I am praying for all of you and Sgt. Liczbinski. God has him now and he is safe with him.
May 09, 2008
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
May 09, 2008
I share with the Liczbinski family a prayer given to us at the loss of our family matriarch. the author is unknown:
Autumn Rain
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the the diamonds glints upon the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am that swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

My God bless your family. Thank you to Stephen and all of the brave men and women who serve as our city's protectors. God bless you all.
May 09, 2008
To the Liczbinski Family,

May 09, 2008
Dear Liczbinski Family: I had the pleasure of knowing and teaching Steven, and several of Liczbinski clan. I go back to to a more pleasant time when Stephen attended Jones Junior High. All the Liczbinski’s I taught were a pleasure to have as students, and my life is richer because our paths crossed. My heart goes out to all the family. He is a hero, and deserves the thanks and praise of all the citizens he protected. We are proud and will not forget his sacrifice. I wish there was some way to ease the pain of all that knew and loved him. I have offered up prayers for Stephen’s soul. My deepest sympathy to all his family. Perhaps the final line of the Prayer Saint Francis of Assisi might give the family some solace - it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. God bless Stephen and all of you! Tom Anastasia - Mr. A
May 09, 2008
As i sit and watch your funeral online I never realized what my husband must go through as a police officer. You were a hero because you protected the great city of philadelphia. Nothing anyone can say will bring you back but with all of the people whom are touched by this event your memory and your courage will live on and teach others. There were 3 familes effected by this event. Liczbinski's, The Philadelphia Police, and the City of Philadelphia. I hope we all join together and realize the police officers in this world have more to fear on a daily basis than most of us have in our whole lives. Everyday they wake up and they know it might be the last time they get to see their kids or hold their spouse yet somehow some way they go out and take that chance. It takes a certain kind of person to become an officer. That type is a HERO nothing less than a HERO. Rest in Peace.
May 09, 2008
My prayers are with your whole family and with the philadelphia police department may Sgt. Liczbinski rest in peace.
May 09, 2008
To the Liczbinski Family,
My heartfelt condolences. You are in my prayers. May God give you the strength to go on.

May 09, 2008
To the Liczbinski Family, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all of you in this difficult time. I do not know you, but I just want you all to know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of so many. I would like to thank Sgt. Liczbinski for risking his life everyday and ultimately sacrificing it to keep the average Philadelphia citizen, like myself, safe. I am honored to be protected every day by such great men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department. Your husband/father/brother...is a true hero. It really takes a certain kind of person to do a job like his. Not seeing themselves at heroes, but as men and women just doing the job that they love. When crime occurs, it's instinctual to run the other way, but he ran towards it, everyday, willingly, to make Philadelphia a safer place not just for his family and friends but for everyone, strangers, people he never met before. Thank you to all of you. I believe that when someone you love is in the line of duty, you are in it together. Because although, Stephen was the police officer, it is your whole family that suffers this terrible loss. When he is out patroling the streets, all of you are out there because you are all one as a family. Thank you for selflessly sharing Stephen with the community. May God Bless you always and May Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski Rest in Peace.
May 09, 2008

To the Liczbinski Family,
I too am the wife of a Phila. Police Officer...My heart breaks for you and your family..You got the phone call-the knock at the door that we all dread and fear..Our husbands were promoted together and followed similar career paths..
I remember the promotion ceremony and what a proud day it was...They sat just 3 seats apart from each other and Steve is in so many of the ceremony pictures that I took that day.....I can only pray for you all and hope that God's grace gets you through this hard time...We as a city mourn with you.
May 09, 2008

May 09, 2008
When I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to yourself,
throughout the long and lonely years.

But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake, and in my name,
Live on and do all things the same,

Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour in useful ways,
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
And hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

May your days begin to get brighter and your memories grow stronger. Wishing you peace in this difficult time, and thanks to your loved one for his ultimate sacrifice for all of us. May God Bless you and your Family.
May 09, 2008
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
May 09, 2008
Dear Liczbinski Family, Friends and fellow Police Officers,

The people Stephen and all of his fellow officers protect are forever in your debt. May you one day find peace in your memories of this brave man.
May 09, 2008
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

"A Part of America Died"

Somebody killed a police officer today
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
will be buried with him at his side.
Somebody killed a police officer today
it happened in your town and mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost has the beat
on a dark city street
and he stands at each rookie's side.
A cop answered the call
of himself gave his all
and a part of America died.

"Police Officer's Sacrifice"

While you sleep, we're there.
When you're sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, or celebrating Christmas, we're there.
When it’s raining and cold, and you're glad to be in your home with your family, we're out there.
When it's your children's birthday, we're out there.
When it's our children's birthday,
You put on a suit and dress to go to work, we strap on a ballistic vest and a gun.
There's little room for error in your job, in ours there is none.
An error by you means a demotion; an error by us means a funeral.
When you tell your families "see you tonight" as you leave for work, you mean it. When we tell our family that, we pray we will.
At your job you strive to succeed, at our job we strive to survive.
In your job, one bad person is the talk of the office, in our job; one bad officer makes the news and suddenly we’re all bad.
In these headlines it's not what good we've done, but how much better it could have been done.
When you're scared you call us, when we're scared, we must carry on.
While you're eating a home cooked meal, we're having another hamburger.
While you're asleep with your spouse, ours sleep alone.
So the next time you're out with your family or friends, and you see a patrol car go by, remember the incredible sacrifice made by these officers every day.
Inside that car is a person that sacrifices his/her life, both professionally and personally Everyday

To Marty -

My heart is with you at this time. I wish I could be there in person for you and your family. I know that , being a Liczbinski, his impact on all who met him was strong and positive and as such his presence will be missed by all - not only in his role as Police Officer - but also in his daily walk as a "human". The love and care that your family showed me all those years ago has no doubt been carried into public proudly. I am sorry to say that all I can think of at this time is that all anyone can do at this time is to exhibit a little more of that love than we had before to those we meet every day. I will do so with the Liczbinski example in my heart. Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

It has taken me a while to sign this because I was at a loss for words. There is no amount of "I'm sorry's" to make your pain go away and that breaks my heart. Just know that not a moment goes by everyday that I don't think about you all. I know he passed doing what he believes in and in my eyes that makes him a hero, and though he was physically takin away from you the one thing NOONE can take away is his bravery and courage. He has taken that with him. I love you guys and will continue to pray for you. Love your cousin

To the family of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

There are no words that could bring back your fallen hero, dad and husband. Please know however that he will be and you will be in my prayers.

As The Atlanic County Commander of the American Legion it was my pleasure to preside over Award presentations to Law Enforcement Officials as well as others. I always ended the ceremony by wishing them well in their vocation. This is a prime example of that vocation and what it meant to the Sarge and you his family. The man gave the ultimate gift to the people of Philadelphia, his life for their safety. He will always be remembered in my prayers and you his family will be remembered also.

God Bless Sgt. Liczbinski and God Bless you. Remember no matter what he will always be in your heart.
May 07, 2008
My condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to the Liczbinski family. I am a single mother of two entering a career in law enforcement and hope to become a police officer very soon. It takes a special person to protect and serve and a hero to die while doing so. I wish I had words to express my sorrow for you, if anything good can come of this, it's that Sgt. Liczbinski's death has inspired me to follow my dream even more of becoming a police officer.
To all officers killed in the line of duty, as you protected and served here on earth, you can now do so as angels of God and protect the world.
~When the sunshine of God's love meets the showers of our sorrow,~ the rainbow of promise appears.

God Bless!

What is Death? Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without affect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.

Sadly, the day for Sgt liczbinski's family came all too soon. I'd like to thank Sgt Liczbinski for all that he did in helping to keep our streets safe for our children and let him know that those responsible will be brought to justice. I went to school with Sgt. Liczbinski's son and cannot imagine the agony and pain him and his family are feeling. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the entire Liczbinski family.

Every morning they dresse in blue,
They chose the job that heros do.
To keep it safe for me and you.

I'm sorry for words, too sorry to say.
You gave your life to keep us safe,
In Gods kingdom you have a place.
We will not forget what they had done,
We will not give up, they have not won.

No words can ease your pain. Sympathies and condolences feel hollow. Your heart is heavy and your soul feels empty. You are angry, sad, lost. You feel that no one understands what you feel right now. God does. His heart aches for you right now, like all ours do. Know that in time, Steve's memories will bring pleasure. That in time, all the hurt will pass. That you will go on. Turn to The Lord. He will heal your broken heart. He will give you the strength that you don't think you have. Live, and let Steve live in your hearts & memories. If we truly love him & remember, he will never truly be gone.
I met Steve through Howard, and although I only met him a few times, I felt like I knew him. He was good & honest. Truthful & genuine.
I've cried for your loss & your pain. Please know that Steve will be a Hero forever.

SAFELY HOME
(Author Unknown)

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Liczbinski Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in Christ. Psalms 23 says:
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

God Bless you All. May this bible verse comfort All.

Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around 'til I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure I was loved
If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end

How I'd love, love, love
To dance with my father again
When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way, I would run from her to him
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance, one final step, one final dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end

'Cause I'd love, love, love
To dance with my father again
Sometimes I'd listen outside her door
And I'd hear how my mother cried for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me
I know I'm praying for much too much
But could you send back the only man she loved
I know you don't do it usually
But dear Lord she's dying
To dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream

To:Family,Friends and Co-works of Sgt.Liczbinski
My black face fades,
hiding inside the black granite.
I said I wouldn't,
dammit: No tears.
I'm stone. I'm flesh.
My clouded reflection eyes me
like a bird of prey, the profile of night
slanted against morning. I turn
this way--the stone lets me go.
I turn that way--I'm inside
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
again, depending on the light
to make a difference.
I go down the 58,022 names,
half-expecting to find
my own in letters like smoke.
I touch the name Andrew Johnson;
I see the booby trap's white flash.
Names shimmer on a woman's blouse
but when she walks away
the names stay on the wall.
Brushstrokes flash, a red bird's
wings cutting across my stare.
The sky. A plane in the sky.
A white vet's image floats
closer to me, then his pale eyes
look through mine. I'm a window.
He's lost his right arm
inside the stone. In the black mirror
a woman's trying to erase names:
No, she's brushing a boy's hair.
sory to about your loss GOD you and all who put it live online the everyday for this city of Brotherly Love Sgt. Liczbinski well alway be in are hearts

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen
May 05, 2008
Sgt. Liczbinski Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice! You and your family will never be forgotten. From our Police family to yours.

"Policeman's Prayer"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
As I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.
Please give me understanding
With both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention
Until their stories told.
Let me never make a judgement
In a rash or callous way,
But Let me hold my patience
Let each man have his say.
Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
Protect my children and my wife.

May 05, 2008
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Living in central PA, we seldom get to Phila. On a rare trip to the city we took Broad Street to go downtown and saw dozens of police officers speeding northeast. Later that day driving home we past the hearse. We were saddened to learn that our two experiences from the day brought us near Officer Liczbinski. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children. All of the Phila. police force are to honored for their bravery to protect the residents and visitors to Philadelphia. Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To our fallen officers
You have done your duty
Kept all safe from harm’s way
Until that fateful day
When you were taken away
From your family,friends,fellow officers
And the communities,in which you
Swore “To Serve & Protect”
Your watch is now over
May you rest with your
Brother & Sister Officers
Whom have sworn the same before you
Time is now for us to take the watch
As you stand on The Almighty’s right side
May all of you watch & protect us from harm’s way

To Sgt. Liczbinski' s family friends and co-workers. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you at this horrific time. Working with the public ourselves we totally understand the sacrifice that this "hero" made. It takes "exceptional" special people to do the job that this officer and his colleagues do on a daily basis!
May 04, 2008
I never had the pleasure of meeting you yet it hurts very much. Officers like you that risk your lives on a daily basis to protect people like me...what words can be said since thank you is so littlet to say. I hope to one day meet you in heaven (save a place for me). I know for sure that your legacy will endure forever. Carmen Maria Lebron (EPOP)

I never knew Sgt. Liczbinski but I knew the 4th Dist. I was a civilian Phila. Police Radio dispatcher and worked South Division for two years. The 4th was an active and challanging District. From the radio room traffic, you got a sense of who the other officers went to for support. From what I read, Sgt. Liczbinski was one of those. God bless his family.
