In the mid 1990's I was surprised and delighted to receive a personal, hand-written letter from Dana complimenting me on a couple of letters of recommendation I had written for applicants to Haverford. As a college advisor in a public high school with over 600 juniors and seniors in my caseload, this generous and time consuming gesture on Dana's part meant the world to me. I never had the honor of meeting Dana, but did speak to him a few times on the phone. He impressed me every time with his honesty, his deep understanding of young people, his warm sense of humor and his kindness. My thoughts are with his family and the Haverford community.

I had never played lacrosse before. During my junior year, Dana gave me the opportunity to learn the game, develop the fundamentals, and ultimately play a role on the team – and create many friendships and wonderful memories in the process. His devotion to the development of all his players was extraordinary. Dana represented the very best of the Haverford experience – welcoming, encouraging, challenging and stretching – helping us all to be the best we could be. I feel incredibly fortunate to have known him as a coach, and will always remember him with great fondness.

I attended Haverford when Dana was head of athletics. (I can't recall his actual title.) I was not an athlete, but Dana helped me with my exercise program and was so welcoming. He was a great person and a Haverford institution. My condolences go to his family and the entire Haverford community.
