HENRY LYNCH Obituary

LYNCH

HENRY,passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at his home after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was 67. Born in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, he was son of the late Thomas J. and Blanche (Lajeunesse) Lynch. He was raised in Willow Grove and has been a Hatboro resident for the past 36 years. He attended LaSalle College High School (1964), La Salle University, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (1969). He was owner and administrator of Lynch Homes for over 40 years. Lynch Homes served 250 persons with physical and intellectual disability in over 70 locations, mainly in Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware Counties. Those served were always treated with respect, focusing on their individual needs and abilities. Lynch Homes received the first ever national award in 1982 for providing quality community-based services to people who are severely and profoundly mentally handi-capped, from the National Association of Private Residential Facilities. Professionals from the US and other countries traveled to observe the homes, considered models of excellence. He was also the first and only two-time President of PAR, Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability. For his leadership in the field for many years, and his tireless dedication to people with intellectual disability, he received the Humanitarian Award from PAR.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Evelyn (Bondy) Lynch, his devoted children and their spouses, Laurie Myers (Dave), Christina Szperka (Doug), and Dan Lynch (Kate Clarke). He is also survived by one sister, Marianne Lynch; 4 grand-children whom he adored, Alyssa and Kristen Myers, and Annemarie and Brennan Szperka; and a large extended family. Dear Lyn and family,
I am saddened to hear of Henry's passing. My deepest sympathy is extended to all of you. Henry was a wonderful man....it's hard to find adequate words to describe the essence of the kind of man and boss I remember. When I started working for Lynch Homes, I thought it was only going to be a summer job. I ended up staying for 16 years.....this speaks volumes of the kind of man Henry was and the true family-oriented business he created! Henry cared deeply about each and every one of his residents, as well as his employees. I will always remember him for the positive impact and the difference he made in the lives of all the children and adults who resided at Lynch Homes. Henry touched so many lives! Although he may be gone from this life on earth, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of countless numbers of people! May the love of family and friends and carry you through your grief.
