I was so unhappy to hear that you are no more, Jackie. You were an inspiration and the sign painters in Nepal were grateful for your glasses!

Jackie was an absolute pleasure to work with. She purchased Reading Glasses from me from 2013-2017 for her Non-Profit Organization Reading Glass Project in which she was truly dedicated to! I just google her name today because she has not returned my calls and that is not like Jackie! My heart is hurting right now, as I will truly miss working with her. I wil seeing her tremendous beautiful smile and that unique laugh that lit up our office when she walked in with Topper! My condolences and deepest sympathy to the family, my prayers are with you and ask that you also pray for me as this is a great loss for me also. May god bless and keep you. Heaven's received one of the best Angels on earth, peace be still Jackie you are resting comfortably in good hands so spread your wings and fly for you are in the highest of the high!

Though I never had the pleasure of personally meeting "Whacky" Jackie I was deeply encouraged and inspired by her.

I manage a homeless shelter and several years ago Jackie called out of the blue looking for a shelter to volunteer at during Christmas. She was in California when she called a day or two before the big event (as if I didn't have things planned yet) and the shelter is in PA. We immediately hit it off and were laughing and joking as though we were old friends. It was during this inquiry of hers that I nicknamed her "Whacky" Jackie and jokingly asked her if she were dysfunctional and attempting to avoid her family dinner. She laughed and asked if I might be calling the kettle black. Though Jackie didn't make it to PA that holiday her brother Freedly showed up at the shelter and helped to serve the meal. Freedley was kind and gracious and figured out some of the things that myself and Jackie had in common before we did.

After the holidays we were back in touch. For the next year or two we stayed in touch and Jackie encouraged me in pursuing my artwork and helping me to encourage those I serve with telling their stories. I continue doing this even today and I am grateful for this wonderfully serendipitous, though brief, encounter that helped and encouraged me as well as countless others that got to hear and see how far small kindnesses can go. We had an art show and the residents loved being in a gallery telling their stories in front of art pieces that depicted them and their stories.

To Freedley and all of Jackie's nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that Jackie's spirit, good-nature, humor, craft, love, generosity and concern for others will carry you and fill each of you with joy and hope over the next few days and weeks and for all eternity.
