Marie,
Maryanne and I are saddened to learn of Jack's passing.
Please accept our condolences on your loss.
Due to fact that I am leading a workshop at the time of the viewing and mass on Saturday I will not be able to attend either.
It's hard for me to believe that Jack was 90 years of age. I purposely did not use the word old because he was always young at heart. He had a great sense of humor and was as sharp as a tack.
It was probably about 15-20 years ago when I first met Jack through Jack Fitzpatrick. Somehow, I was invited to a few of the ROMEO lunches. I don't know how I came to be invited because at the time I was neither retired or old, but I was a man and I did enjoy eating out.
What a great group of Catholic men that was. The times that I attended were always filled with good fellowship, friendly kidding of one another, great stories and much laughter.
Sadly, I think that Jack might have been the last of them to go.
Jack was always so friendly. He was a gentleman. The last time I spoke with him was right before Christmas. He came up and spoke with me and asked me about Jack Fitzpatrick's grandsons.
Heaven is often described as a banquet, but I believe now that the gang is all together again there will some lunches as well.
Marie, Maryanne and I are truly sorry for your loss. We pray that your faith will sustain you and your family, and you will find the peace and strength that God has for you in your time of sorrow.
