All of his friends from The Juice House Cuban restaurant in Key Largo are truly saddened today to find out of his passing . He was a very funny and respectful man. He would come early in the morning to drink his Cafe con Leche ( we always made a funny little drawing on the foam cup , a smiley face , a sad face etc.. ; he Always smiled and made a funny comment on how silly we all can be) and of course before he went back home to his wife , he made sure we made her a Cafe con Leche just the way she likes it. You will be missed your friends from Key Largo

To my brother, I was always his little sister. We went through a lot together, but with the love and guidance of our mother, we arrived at adulthood. He was protective and caring. He was direct, honest, and hard working. When I was a little girl, he saved my life when my clothes caught on fire. We often disagreed in our views, but his love for me was always unquestioned. He was very successful in business, but he considered obtaining his PhD and becoming a professor to be his greatest accomplishment. He was very happy in the Florida Keys, perhaps because it reminded him of his childhood and the family he left behind in Cuba. I am glad he was able to spend a few years in Florida enjoying his trees, his boat, and the climate he so enjoyed. I will miss him very much, but he will always live in my heart.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Gómez. I just found out today and I am sorry I missed his funeral services.

Dr. Gómez was the first translation professor I had after being accepted into the Translation graduate program at La Salle University. He was an excellent teacher of translation and Spanish and I learned so many things from him that have helped me in my career.

His memory will live on through all of the students who he taught. He was truly a great man.

Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am very saddened to learn that Luis has died. During his time at LaSalle, we had many discussions about family, politics, and other matters of life in the second floor hallway of Olney Hall. I enjoyed our times together. Luis was truly a wonderful man, and will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
