Doc was a great boss and friend. He gave me my first real job in 1968, when I had just turned 16. The truth is that I'd been driving for a week when he hired me. It was a great place to work so I got my friend, Tommy Gallagher, a job there. We worked for Doc into our early college years at St Joe's. My only regret was that I wasn't nicer to Doc's delivery cars when I worked there.
Tommy and Doc and I had a lot of laughs and great times back then. He was helping us to grow up though we didn't realize it until much later.
Sandy was there many days as well, and it was fun when their boys, David and Adam, came to the store. Doc taught us to always focus on helping his customers and being kind. I learned so much about business from my time with Doc.
I haven't lived in the Phila area for many years but when I was in town, I sometimes stopped in to say hello, check on his family and catch up. Just before Thanksgiving, I stopped by Sproul Pharmacy. Doc was in hospice care at Bryn Mawr at the time but I was happy the store was still there, and happy to see a picture of Doc on the shelf.
Rest in peace, Doc, you were a really good friend to me.

I met Bob when he opened his store in Springfield. We became close friends from the start scince his wife Sandy and my wife Carol, grew up together in Drexel Hill. He and I had a special frienship through the years. Even after I moved to Rehoboth I would stop at his store on my many trips to Pa. while visiting family and my Pa. doctors. Rest in peace Bob you are missed.

"Doc" Wasserman was a real mensch. I'm very saddened to read of his passing. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, customers, and anyone who liked him as I did. As a customer for a number of years, I often spoke to him about life and family. He was so proud of his children, always mentioning them to me. He once called me at home after I picked up an order saying he believed that I was shorted ONE pill. I told him how gracious his call was and I appreciated it very much. And he made sure to put that ONE pill in my next order. Even though I asked him to call me by my first name, he never would as a sign of respect towards me. Men like him are hard to find.
