Bill and I became colleagues and friends through our mutual interest and passion for understanding how transplantion research could be taken from the bench to the bedside. Bill's clinical expertise and experience contributed greatly to the development of my basic science research program in transplantation. I especially enjoyed and benefited from our frequent scientific exchanges with my graduate student on advancing transplantation research in my laboratory. His acute insight and sharp wit quickly moved our professional relationship into a personal friendship as well. I will always treasure my memories of Bill and our friendship. Godspeed Bill! ❤❤❤

I am still numb since learning of Bill's passing. Our friendship began in fourth grade after Bill moved to PA from Florida. Bill was very quiet....until you got to know him. He was an avid tennis player, and we spent many hours at the local courts. One of my favorite memories was when Bill visited me one summer day in New Jersey. We drove from Ocean City to Atlantic City in search of an empty tennis court; definitely more driving than playing, but plenty of time to talk about life. Even though our careers took us to different geographical locations, we still remained friends including Bill serving as our Best Man. I will always cherish our friendship. Rest in peace, Bill
