James Rose Obituary

James Joseph Rose

Virginia Beach - James Joseph Rose, 69, son of the late Ben and Mary Cason, peacefully crossed the river to join his beloved wife, Judith K Rose, on Sunday, November 24, 2013 as his family watched over him. Washington D.C. was his hometown; he later lived in Roanoke, VA before moving to Virginia Beach for the remainder of his 30+ years.

We celebrate the life of this southern gentleman and avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting, fishing and camping. Whether hunting that elusive big buck or that citation bass, he lived for adventure. Visiting the hunting cabin, river, coaching his son's teams or just spending time with family was always exciting and his ever-present grin reflected his genuine love for life. He loved to talk and his giving soul never met a stranger; always lending a hand to those in need. He made a lasting impression with everyone who knew him and his wisdom, advice and wisecracks will sorely be missed by those lucky enough to call him friend.

Jim leaves behind so many to cherish his memory: a son, Michael Rose; daughter in law, Andrea Dillon and one grandson, Joshua McKay of Virginia Beach; sisters Betty Tanner (George), Paula Dodd (Ron), Debbie Chapman, Belinda Cason, and sisters-in-law: Karen Monday (Skip) and Jean Jennings; many nieces & nephews and his closest friend Bill R. His first great-grandchild is expected in spring 2014.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the COPD Foundation here: http://bit.ly/1fTe2gJ or to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad here: http://bit.ly/1eADGTJ. Online condolences may be sent to the family at http://bit.ly/1j4hIMp. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements.
