Swisher, Thornton Monroe "Thor" 79, passed away June 30, 2014. He was born April 18, 1935, in Bexley, OH, lived for many years in Lake Forest, IL, and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, in 2000. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Gretchen (née Jaeger); son, Thornton Jr. ("LT") of Lake Forest, IL; stepsons, Jeffrey (Margo) Tasker of New Orleans, LA, and Peter (Holly) Tasker of St. Louis, MO; and grandchildren, Hailey, Della, Ivan, Jacob, Beckett, and Rosalie. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Thor worked for over 25 years at Goldman Sachs in Chicago. His second career was as floral deliveryman and bookkeeper for the Daisy Chain in Lake Forest. A gifted tambourine player, Thor appeared across Chicago's North Shore with a variety of bands. Beloved friend of many, his warmth and wit will be greatly missed.
