Helen Henslin Obituary

Helen Adams Henslin, 86, of Yulee, Fla., passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 6, 2014, at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Mrs. Henslin was born Sept. 11, 1927, to Oliver and Lola Adams in Zumbro Falls, and made her home in Brooksville, Fla., for 24 years before moving to Yulee, Fla., 20 years ago from Hayesville, N.C. She attended Winona State University where she received her teacher's certification in elementary education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from  the University of Minnesota. Mrs. Henslin received her Master's Degree from Nova University and received a lay minister's license from Indiana Wesleyan University. She taught school in Altura, Stewartville, Crystal Bay and taught for 20 years in Inverness, Fla., as well as substitute teaching in Nassau County, Florida schools. She was also a lay minister and member of the Wesleyan Church.

Mrs. Henslin loved the Lord with all her heart and loved reading (especially the Bible and Bible commentaries), and bird watching. She had a great sense of humor and loved to talk. She never met a stranger. She lived for her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Henslin is survived by her husband of 61 years, Raymond E. Henslin of Yulee, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Faye Henslin of Screven, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and David Lempke of Staunton, Va.; one sister, Marlys Henslin of Zumbrota; and three grandchildren, Aaron Henslin, Matt Lempke and Cara Henslin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home in Yulee, Fla., with Rev. Josh Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow in Hughes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
