John and Mary,
Alex was an outstanding Soldier! I had the privilege of being his Commander in Iraq. My words cannot fully express my sorrow for your loss. I remember his shy smile, hard work ethic and the respect he had from his peers. I remember the day that I presented “Ski” his Sergeant stripes as a proud day for our entire Company. Please know that all who served with Alex share in your pain and pay our final respects to one of our best wartime comrades. “Ski” will be missed by all of us. LTC Mark Baaden, 403rd Civil Affairs Battalion.
