Miles was a kindred spirit while we attended law school together in the people's republic of Madison. While military life took me away from Wisconsin, I still fondly remember many great discussions with Miles. I was so shocked to hear of his loss. The world has lost a zealous advocate for freedom.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss.
We had lots of fun sampling wine and rum with both of you.
The best to you and your family.
So very sorry for your loss.
We had some fun playing in freefall a decade ago. Blue Skies Miles. Gone too soon. RIP
Peace to the family
My prayers continue to be with your entire family during your time of sorrow. Miles was a great man and a wonderful co-worker who will be missed by all who knew him.
I had the pleasure of working with Miles for most of his time with the Schneider family. I always enjoyed the opportunity of meeting with him. He was a great educator who gave you the law, but then gave you the pragmatic way to address the business issues.
He will never be replaced, but know that he is happy, healthy and safe in heaven looking down on you, guiding you, and loving you forever.
Was very sad to hear of Miles passing. I worked with him while in several roles at Schneider. He always spoke highly of his family. He will be missed at Schneider.
To the Mittlestadt family,
I had the pleasure of working with Miles as Canadian Counsel to Schneider on many matters from 1997 - 2011. He was always a professional and wonderful to speak to about many issues. While we never met in person, we spoke often, and I'll never forget the day we spoke on 9/11 when I called to send condolences from Canada and he told about his good friend in NYC that day. It was very sad.
As is this terrible news of such a untimely passing of such a young man. It came to me timely from a most unexpected source.
I'm sure he will be very much missed by all and that he was a wonderful dad and great husband.
May God's strength be with you during these very difficult days.
Holly, so sorry to hear of your loss. You and your family are in our prayers. Our deepest sympathy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you mourn the loss of your spirited father. Dad and Joe had a great time with you and him at the Sigma Chi Father/Son weekend, maybe a little too much fun? Joe sends his love and wishes he were here to share your grief. If there is anything we can do we are here for you, don't hesitate.
Miles, no one ever had to wonder where you stood on an issue. You remained steadfast in your beliefs and principles to the very end. In recent years, where I feel grateful to have rekindled the bonds of friendship and brotherhood, you struck me as one that had found some modicum of peace with the obvious differences between you and the direction the country was taking. Instead you chose to focus your energies on your family, your sons in particular (of course the smartest and best looking of all...) and make sure that your standards would survive into a new generation. Things I remember from the days at "The 221 Club" include that hideous fu manchu mustache you sported along with the "Peace Through Strength" poster you hung on the outside of your door... I will miss your invective retorts and insightful narrative. Agree or not, one had to take you seriously. Getting to the finish line of this race first is no one's objective, and I am sorry for you and your family that you were chosen. Be confident, though, that you will continue to live in your sons and in the memories of those who knew you.
So sorry to hear about Miles' passing.
Miles was a very smart lawyer and a great guy to work with. I wish I could have seen his competitive spirit at work on the slopes or on the ice. Miles will be remembered with love and missed incredibly by family members, close friends, and business colleagues. You're in the thoughts and prayers of many.
I will fondly remember a proud family moment we were able to share with Miles. Kraig "Knuckleball" Mittelstadt won the city little league championship as our starting pitcher and Miles was one proud papa. Rest in peace, Miles. Our thoughts and prayers are with Holly, Kurt, Kraig, and the rest of the family.
I was so sorry to hear of our loss. Miles was full of life! He will be missed by so many people and the associates of Schneider. I worked with him very closely over the last 7 years. I will miss his humor, passion and smile. Holly & family--you have my deepest sympathies for your loss.
Miles made this world a better place. His approach to his ideals will be missed.
A brilliant, inspirational leader to our lawyers. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Holly and the boys.
In every conversation, Miles would talk about his wife, his boys, the Law, his Packers, and freedom.
Miles was whip-smart and a fine writer. He had a photographic memory. Miles was extremely funny, even if was at the expense of my hometown Chicago Bears.
Miles was a zealous advocate for Schneider National and I was honored to have assisted him and the company in legal issues arising in Illinois. Miles had a keen eye for spotting nonsense. His insistence that people step up to the plate and take responsibility for their own actions imbued all that he did.
My prayers go out to Holly, his boys, and his mom. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
My heart and prayers go out to you Kurt and Kraig. I am so sorry he is gone so soon. You know he will be your guardian angel watching over you both.
I am truly saddened to hear of Miles' death. He was one of a kind. Incredibly loyal to his friends and family, a man of great passion and intellect, and someone whose word was in fact his bond. I will miss Miles' Christmas letter, our email discussions about politics and our annual bet on the outcome of the Iowa-Wisconsin football game. God Bless Miles.
May you find peace in God's arms! Lifting you in prayer.
The world has lost a man that was as passionate in his beliefs as anyone I have ever known. I truly enjoyed the times I was able to spend with Miles and believe that I, like so many others, have become a better person for knowing him.
May God hold you Holly, and the rest of his family, in the palm of his hand during this difficult time.
So sorry to lose you so soon, my friend Miles. I'll always remember you as both a character and a man of great character. Thoughts and prayers go out to your family. May you all be comforted by God's love and a lifetime of wonderful memories of Miles.
Miles was one of the first to make me feel welcome at Schneider . His wit, passion and dedication to his work were inspiring. Miles lived his values. And his love for his family, especially Holly, was evident every day. He was a genuine and caring person and I will miss him. My prayers are with his family.
Rest in peace, Miles. You will be missed. Thinking of you, Holly, and the rest of your family.
Miles was a special man - so sorry to lose him so soon. Thoughts and prayers are with you - Holly, Kurt, Kraig and the rest of the family.
