June Ramey Obituary

JUNE L. RAMEY FORMERLY OF VALPARAISO June L. Ramey, 91, formerly of Valparaiso passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Portage. She was born April 18, 1923 in Joliet, IL to Clyde T. and Bessie Mae (Varner) Short. June enjoyed caring for the children of several Valparaiso area families over the course of many years and influencing their early development. On July 31, 1942, she married Allen J. Ramey, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include their children: Allen T. (Patricia) Ramey of Florence, MS, Sharon J. (Lawrence) Potter of Moreland, IN, and Judith L. (Joseph, Jr.) Navarro of Porter, IN; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: James, Clyde, Jack, Howard, and Kenneth Short; and an infant sister. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM DIRECTLY at Graceland Cemetery Chapel of Peace with Pastor Michael Ramey officiating.
