This is a sad day for the Butler Community, especially those of the Jewish faith. Bernie Levin was a part of my life for as long as I remember. I can't think of an event at B'nai Abraham Synagogue that Bernie wasn't a part of. From the youth groups, picnics, Sunday school, etc. Bernie was always there, usually in a leadership capacity. No one ever put in more hours or more effort. His commitment and passion was extraordinary and he was a role model to generations of Butlerites. It is very difficult to articulate a lifetime of service in a eulogy, or especially a virtual memorial book. How can you sum up a man's life in a word or two – veteran, businessman, family man, volunteer, etc.? Bernie Levin was certainly all of those, but he was so much more. His moral compass, dedication, faith, commitment, and labor had an impact on hundreds of Butler youth who were influenced by his example, directly or indirectly. They went on to become doctors, lawyers, public servants etc., each in their own way contributing to the betterment of their communities like Bernie did his. His legacy of decades of service is immeasurable, but if I had to sum it up, I would simply say that he was a real mench. For those who don't know what that is, I encourage you to look it up.
To the family of Bernie Levin, I want to offer my deepest sympathy and say thank you for sharing this wonderful man with all of us. Our lives are all enriched because he cared and was always there for us.

Scott,
I met your dad and saw him on a regular basis 50 years ago, when my grandfather bought PPG paint for his business. So sorry for your loss; we're all getting old but that doesn't take away the pain of losing dad.
Best,

Bernie was a close family friend and well respected. I grew up knowing Bernie/the Levin family and remember staying over night at the house when Scott and I were young. Even in recent years I always enjoyed going down to L and L Auto for a visit.

Bernie was like my "other" father.I felt safe under his wing if you know what I mean. Always made you feel at home and you could talk to him like he were one of your buddies. I will truly miss the crazy times at L&L with him and the boys... and so will they. Much love to Marilyn the Boys and Family.
