David was a good friend that I met in Ocean City NJ many years ago. It was always fun to talk with him about any subject. I will miss him.

He taught me English in 1983 and Creative writing in 1986. It is a shock that he is now dead. He was soft spoken and a good person. If I am not mistaken his sister passed away while he was teaching one of these classes and his sorrow at the time will stay with me the rest of my life.

Mr. Mayer was one of my most influential teachers. We sometimes/often didn't see eye to eye but his opinion still creeps into my life today. What a wonderful soul! Condolences to his family and friends. His spirit will live on. Certainly with his students but also the great teachers that will follow in his path.

Mr. Mayer was a great man and the kind of teacher you can call yourself lucky to have had. He taught me English and Creative Writing. I was a poor student with a bad attitude, but had a deep love for writing. He encouraged me and supported me, and even though I dropped out of high school, I am proud to say I'm now a full-time writer...it would never have happened if not for Mr. Mayer! I'll always remember his smile and poems he would share in class. So sorry for the loss.
