ESSIE
Age 90, of Pittsburgh, PA, peacefully passed away on August 31, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Harrison Smalls; loving mother of Harrison, Jr., Herbert, Annabelle (Ken El), Thelma, Phyllis, Cynthia, Thomas, Isaac (Polly), and Essie (Gregory); also survived by 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister of Carrie Gordon and Jerry Ellerbee of Charleston, SC; and John Ellerbee of Seattle, WA. Visitation on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, 4-8 p.m. in the SAMUEL J. JONES FUNERAL HOME, 2644 Wylie Ave., Pgh., PA 15219. Funeral Service Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Northside Institutional COGIC Church, 302 W. North Ave., Pgh., PA 15212. Interment Allegheny Cemetery.

Essie, Bonnie, Thelma and the rest of the Smalls Family, know that the Boyd Family is praying for all of the Smalls during the loss of your precious loving mother! Miss Essie was good to all of the Boyd Children and always encouraged us to do the right thing! The compassion that Miss Essie extended to my late mother (back in the day) was priceless.
