So sorry to hear of Carl's passing. He was a great friend and mentor to a young faculty member years ago.
Cynthia and I are deeply saddened by Carl's passing. He was a wonderful colleague and in later years we shared an office. We were unfortunately unable to attend his final service. Our most heartfelt condolences to you.
Jane, Karen, Kirsten and Family, So sorry to learn of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I always enjoyed the family events you would envite me to, especially the dinners during my all to infrequent visits to Pittsburgh these past 25 years. Each was memorable, and I will miss Carl's wit and wisdom.
My Deepest Sympathy to all of you. I worked with Carl for 30 yrs. in the Biology Dept. at Pitt. What a wonderful man who always knew how to make you laugh. I loved listening to his stories. He will surely be missed by all.
It's hard to believe that I first met Carl fifty years ago, when Jane and I were room-mates in Cambridge. I shall always remember his sense of humor and high intelligence and the interesting Christmas letters he sent which kept me in touch although I so rarely saw him as the years passed. A long life and a good one.
Love and sympathy, Jane, to you and your family. Love from Jane Wickson Bradley
Dear Partanen Family,
Such a deep loss for you all. I knew your Father as I was a secretary in Biological Sciences and loved him dearly. He was truly an amazing man and quite the character when he wanted to be. I know your loss is great. May the memories he's left you with give you comfort as time passes. I will pray for the day you can laugh about life as he did. I'll miss him.
So sorry for your loss -- my thoughts and prayers are with you. Please take care --
