Sympathy & kindest regards to the Vondas family, friends & admirers wherever they may be. God bless 1 & all. Folks like Jerry, Peter Leo & so very many others made there mark countless times in so many special ways. Each & every day, we eagerly looked forward to Jerry's by line before the morning disturber hit the bricks & before the first aroma of that first sip of coffee. We miss Jerry today, tomorrow & always. Take care.
So sorry to hear about Mr. Vondas. His engaging smile and exuberant personality were like a giant hug every Sunday all those years ago -- may his memory be eternal.
My deepest condolences to Jerry's family. I knew him in Hazelwood many years ago and went to school with his sister Helen. He was always a very kind person and will be sadly missed by those that knew him. May God shower His peace and love on his family and loved ones at this sad time.
I was so sad to hear that Jerry passed away. My dad was best man at his wedding and Jerry was best man at my dad's wedding. I always called him Uncle Jerry because he was such a big part of our family. My prayers go out to Laura, Maria and the Vondas family.
my condolences to the vondas famiy may god be with you at this time..Nicholas G Beckas
My sympathy to the Vondas family. Reading the tributes here reminded me that a few years ago, one of my graduates hesitated to take the job of writing death notices for a local paper. When she told me this, I reminded her that of all the sections of the daily newspaper, nothing is kept longer by more people than the death notices and obituaries.
Jerry Vondas helped the bereaved to honor the memory of their loved ones. It is a noble calling. May he rest in peace after a life well lived.
Jerry was my Sunday school teacher many years ago. He along with Deacon Christulides and Mr. Thomas had a very engaging way of tying church doctrine with current events. The class left a lasting memory. What I remember most about Jerry was that no matter how long it had been since he last saw you, he would light up with energy and really take the time to talk. He made you feel special. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Vonda's family. Taki Darakos Family
Laura and family, I knew Jerry as a patient, but he was more than that. He was a wonderful man who often was smiling and always was caring. he told me many wonderful stories about himself, friends and family. His biggest joy was his family who he loves so much. Many stories were about his energetic grandsons.
May the Lord Bless you and keep you so tight as you walk these days , months and years. We who believe will be together again.

Jerry wrote a very thoughtful obituary about my Dad. I will always be grateful for his kind words and gentle humor. May he rest in peace.
To the Vondas family-Jerry's tribute to my brother Ronnie was and is one of the finer pieces he ever wrote. His pathos, his intimacy with those he sent on to the next life, his genuinely serene, yet telling, stories will be severely missed. I spoke with Jerry several times as he, under the constraints of time, wordsmithed an homage that the DeLallo family will never forget. I can only hope that someone, somewhere, somehow, can pay tribute to Jerry in a style befitting this man of words, this man of empathy, this eloquent man. God Bless Jerry Vondas. Yes, I said thank you. It was never enough, and the world is a sadder place without you. May your family and friends find some comfort in this effort to tell everyone what a wonderful and compassionate man you were. If God is looking for a scribe, you, Jerry, are hired.
I extend my sympathy to all those who mourn his passing. Jerry was an amazing man who brought joy to all who knew him. He never forgot his Hazelwood roots and wrote of its history and the many friends he had from that community.
May this good man rest in peace.
I was so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. He wrote the most beautiful obituary of my Mom, Janice Friedman. My family so appreciated his phone calls during our very sad time. Mom would have loved his tribute to her. Our deepest sympathies to you at this very sad time in your life. I wish I had the pleasure of meeting him in person.
Dear Laura, I was saddened to read of Jerry's passing. We went to school and were distant friends. He always mentioned the shrimp at my opening. We will miss him. Marv Jacobson
Such a kind and gentle man. I will never ever forget his heartwarming tribute to Dad when he passed. Please accept my deepest sympathy, Laura. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Dear Laura...I am soooo very sorry to have read about Jerry this way this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Hugs to you...
Dear Laura, Maria & Family:
My family holds so many wonderful memories of Jerry -- he was one of the most kind, caring individuals that we will ever have had the privilege of knowing.
Jerry was a gifted journalist and was able to draw the reader into the story. He loved his craft, his city and most of all, you.
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. He will be missed but all of our lives are much richer from having the opportunity to know Jerry.
May his Memory be Eternal!
He was a wonderful person!
