I'll miss LC I met him in his second year with the Steelers I certainly increased my appreciation of football thx to him and a 40 yr friendship included. A rare thing
Most definately one of the best and dominating defensive ends in the game. Aide and was a member of the most feared front four, The Steel Curtain. L.C. you will be missed but not forgotten. I loved those gold high top cleats you wore, although worn for the ankle injury, they stood out as a fashion statement. I send my coledences to the Greenwood family. May L.C. rest in peace.
. . . AND HE WILL BE REMEMBERED ( ARKANSAS AM&N COLLEGE / PINE BLUFF ARKANSAS / 1964 - 1969 / UPPER CLASSMAN / ETC ) BY THOSE OF US - WHO WENT TO COLLEGE WITH US ( EVERY TIME WE SAW A PITTSBURGH STEELERS FOOTBALL GAME - WE REMEMBERED WHEN - "LC" )YOU REST IN PEACE ( WHILE WE FINISH THE TASK )
THAT YOU STARTED & IS ENTITLE TO - WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN ...
Enjoyed watching you play football with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That steel curtain was amazing to watch back in the day. To be absent from the body and present with the Lord is eternal. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalms 30:5 Rest in Peace.

In my mind and in my heart...L.C....I will always consider you a friend. For sure,I know
you are in a better place, resting in peace in God's heavenly paradise. You have reached the promised land.I will always remember you my friend.
My name is Mitch Jamerson from Orange Lake, Marion County, Florida. I became a Pittsburgh Steeler fan in 1969 at 7 years old. It was Joe Greene and LC Greenwood that caught my attention to the Pittsburgh Steeler team. A few years later Mel Blount, John Stallworth, Andy Russell, Dwight White, Ernie Holmes, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, Franco Harris, Rocky Blair and Dennis "dirt" Winston was added to my favorite players. But Joe Greene, LC Greenwood and Mel Blount were exciting to watch on the Steeler Defense. When LC came out on the field with his golden shoes on for the first time, I called him "LC Hollywood". It was a style he created and as a true fan, I loved it. As a true Steeler fan, your hopes and dreams are to meet some of the "Steeler Greats" one day. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to meet LC, but the memories of him will always be with me forever. Rest in Peace LC and God Bless your entire family who has truly lost a precious loved one. With our deepest sympathy Mitch Jamerson and the Jamerson family. Orange Lake, Marion County, Florida
LC was a great friend in college. Watched his entire NFL career and still a Steeler fan. My only regret is I never saw him after college; still have love in my heart for him.
my deepest thoughts of sympathy to the entire family...

Iworked 30 years in outback/4 crners.i considered my patients to be friends. some people got a little relief by watching "steelers" Defence, defence.these guys have a smart head on their shoulders. Do you want to play somecards? Where did you learn to sing gospel like that?i worked in a lot of jails, hospital and nursing homes. Hope and Cheer and Teamwork..Thank you Mr. Greenwood. Thank You.Bob D. [big bird]
Your lifetime journey is through. May you now be with God and His angels in Heaven. Rest in Peace. May God bless your family.
My sincerest sympathies to the entire family. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow. Steelers fans will treasure all of the wonderful memories. God Bless!
My prayers go out to the family and I pray that God will cover you and give you all the strength to move forward in the weeks and days to come. He will not leave you without a comforter so lean on Him and when you can't stand up any longer kneel down and He talk to Him, He will hear you. Love a friend who met L. C. in Myrtle Beach. Marie Ann Jonez
To the family of L.C. Greenwood. I am sorry for your loss. I am a graduate of Arkansas AM&N in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Attending from 1965-1969. Your love one was a very friendly and personable young man. He will be remembered forever for his good deeds.
God bless you L.C. After all your good works are done you are now with the angels. You made us proud of our Steelers and gave to the community. If only more people were like you the world would be a better place.
It was a joy and a privilege watching you and the rest of the wrecking crew play at AM&N and later you as part of the iron curtain. You deserve HOF.
"Those gold shoes have been in Denver's backfield all day"--Curt Gowdy
Thanks for memories. You will always be remembered as one of the best who ever played the game.
Gone to soon but will never be forgotten.
He left precious memories that nothing can take away. He made his mark on earth & now he's gone where there is no more pain, where love never die. His passing has brought sad tears, but,we will cherish his memories always to brighten the passing years. My prayers go out to the family. Gloria Lowe AM&N
My sincerest sympathies to the Greenwood family, and all those who love L.C. He may not have remembered me, a small child of one of his employees at Monaloh Basin Engineers in the mid-80s, but I have the fondest memories of his kindness and generosity to our family. He and Mr. Jim McDonald were truly gentle men with hearts bigger than their bodies. I also remember as a child being absolutely awestruck at the size of his hands, and how such a large man could fit inside such a small Mercedes convertible. More than 25 years later, you continue to make an impression on me, then the shy small girl holding her fathers hand at the first company picnic. You will be missed.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
very saddened to hear that another of the great members of the Pittsburgh Steelers championship teams passed away. he certainly made an impact on those "steel curtain defenses" now is playing for the greatest coach of all. may god watch over your family at this time of sorrow. rest in peace L.C. you will always be missed

Many prayers and words of comfort are sent to the family during these difficult days. May the Almighty God keep you strong. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

L.C. and I were classmates at Arkansas AM&N College. We all were very proud of him, and his many accomplishments. My deepest sympathy goes out to this family.
A great player ,we watched and enjoyed his games my God keep him close to him.
L. C. you set a beautiful example of a man of integrity. You did the family name proud. Now that you are in the Heavenly Hall of Fame, who needs the Canton, Ohio hall of fame. Greenwood family, my prayers are with you.
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of L.C. Greenwood. I pray that the Lord will fill that empty place with his unfailing love. Growing up in the "Burgh". I became a fan of the "Stillers" having no choice but to watch football on Sundays. L.C. is definitely one name that will have to mentioned whenever anyone talks about great defensive ends. I had the opportunity to meet and tease L.C about being an old Pittsburgh Steeler I remembered watching when I was a little, little girl. He and 3 of his former teammates were traveling on a flight I was boarding while working at the airport. When I came on board this gentle giant got up out of his seat and approached me and then looking down at me, he said, "you were a little, little girl?" What a sweet guy. I laughed and had to confess that I was a teenager when I watched him play and he calmly went back to his seat.
We have lost a special guy.
To the family of L. C. Greenwood,
May you all find comfort in the grace of God. My prayers are with you all. RIP L.C my "Steeler Legend"
L.C. Was a good friend through the years. He attended our daughter's wedding in 1994. He and I spoke at length about OUR favorite soap-opera; THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS! He was a GENTLE GIANT and will be missed.
L.C. You are why I am a Steeler fan from Philly for life. Also being a Pastor myself it's with great joy that we who believe celebrate your transition. Now rest and receive your inheritance & reward.
To The Family of Brother Greenwood I offer My Sympathy for You all and Know that he is in a better Place today!

May god continue to bless and keep the Greenwood family . We will miss our frat. A man among men
My heart and prayers goes out to the family of my frat brother. He was a great football player and a awesome person
without your threat on the end, greene and holmes would never have gotten in on the inside.. you sacked a qb and did no dance...class not seen a.p ct.
Truly loved watching you play and win Superbowls! You should have been inducted and we all know that!!
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
My dad's, Ernie Holmes, closest teammate. LC will be truly missed. The Holmes family thoughts and prayers are with the Greenwood family.
An interesting meaningless side note. LC's Pine Bluff football team beat Ernie's TSU football team this past Saturday.
My you rest in peace. God Bless your family.
To the familTo the family: While I never had the opportunity to actually meet L.C., I grew up watching he and his teammates play a game they obviously had great passion for. Someday when my son is old enough to understand, I will tell him about the greatest linemen in football history. L.C. had a gift and I know I am not the only one who is thankful he shared that gift with us. No one can ever fill the void left by his loss, and he will truely be missed.
We are praying for God's comfort to the entire Greenwood family. My friend I hardly know what to say. I will always remember Chelsea's first birthday party. I brought Peg, my now wife of 28 years. I was trying to impress her, apparently it worked. Thank you for that and the many memories both on and especially off the field. We will miss you my friend. (Rover)
You was a cousin that I never got to meet. But I always cheered for you in a football game. I am the granddaughter of Hobson Greenwood Sr., and the Daughter of Louise Greenwood-Lewis of Shaw, MS. I am still cheering for you..Sleep on my cousin!
I hope this finds you in Heaven. You and the rest of the Steel Curtain inspired me, and I'm a Steeler Fan to this day.
Remember God loves you. Keep your heads up.
May you remember the good times. God's will has to been done. Be blessed......
Heaven has a better team now,I enjoyed watching L.C. play football on Sunday NFL .God be with the family. My prayer is,"God will take care of you".
To the Greenwood Family, I did not know Mr. Greenwood but I am a long time Steeler Fan from Sacramento California. My Prayers go out for him and The Family. God Bless Him and His Family.
You will always live in our hearts and prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort be with your family. The bible help us to see that there will be a time when sickness will be a thing of the pass. My condolences to the Greenwood Family. I've been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan since I was 17 years old (1971), and LC was one of my favorite players. May he rest in peace.

L.C. you was a gentle giant amoung men! You liked to keep a low profile, but you never denied anyone an autograph. But for me it was a special challenge, what was supposed to be a Christmas present became a birthday present for my boyfriend, because we could not get together for it at Christmas time. I never got your autograph for myself always for someone else. HEAVEN NOW HAS THE STEEL CURTAIN the Devil can not get in Now! Love and miss you LC!

GOD HAS CALLED ANOTHER CHILD HOME. DEEPEST SYMPATHIES TO THE GREENWOOD FAMILY.
I wish you well Mr. Greenwood as you make your transition. God gave you a talent that you shared with the world. I enjoyed watching football back then with players such as L.C. Greenwood, Claude Humphrey, Joe Greene and Ernie Ladd, just to name a few of the football greats that played during your tenure. Thanks to your family for letting us share a part of your life by watching you at work on any given Sunday afternoon. Rest in Peace.
To the family of LC. I extend my heartfelt sympathy. I met LC in 1975 and we had a 10 minute conversation of my desire to pursue a career that no women were in at that time. Everyone else laughed at me. LC asked me what plans I had made to make this career a reality. I told him, he approved and wished me God's blessings on my difficult journey. That 10 minutes he took to listen to and mentor me inspired me to take the time to listen to and mentor others. LC you have always been a giant of a man on and off the field. We will miss you here but feel comforted in knowing that you're resting in the arms of our Lord.
You will be missed, L.C. You always greeted me with a big smile and that hardy laugh!!! I'm so glad I had the opportunity in the late 80s to work with you on the Golf Classic. You are one of the GOOD PEOPLE...

So sorry to read about the loss of your loved one. God so cares deeply about us that he has gone to great lengths to make the fulfillment of his promise a certainty. (John 3:16) One of his promises is no more death; another is that those in his memory will be brought back to life. May these facts comfort you.
