Phyllis and family....so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I have fond memories of visiting your home on 14th Street when we were growing up...prayers for you all in the days ahead.... Chris Huber Burton
I was 10 yrs old when Hugh Devore(Head Coach of Notre Dame Football for 2 years while Frank Leahy served in WW II in the US NAVY) was hired as Head Coach at St Bonaventure. He brought
with him many Notre Dame Football players. One of them was Phil Colella. I never missed a home game and admired his natural skills on the Gridiron. He was selected as a Little
American Football player. He lead the ST Bonaventure team to success in all of their games. May he Rest in Peace.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Phil's family. I'm surely going to miss bringing him goodies at Holy Family and talking to him at lunch. Most of all seeing that smiling face and hearing "Oh hi Jennifer how are you?" So glad I got to know him and your family. Your all in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Phyllis and Christie and families,
It is with great sadness that Jim and I realize that Phil is gone, yet with the happiest of memories. In those Junior High years, we were all one big happy family of educators led by friends like Phil, Ed Merges, and quite a few others. They were like our own dads, and the ladies were just like our mothers. We were friends inside and outside of school, and we respected their wisdom so much. They really knew how to have fun, stuck up for all of us "youngsters," and never gave in when others suggested educational short cuts.
Phil always had a twinkle in his eye; he was a wonderful role model! I (Ann) personally have lots of great memories of when he, Maxine Meade, and I taught ninth grade. I am so grateful I had those experiences. We both remember fondly the occasions when we visited Phil and Ann at their home by Hyde School.
We are not in the area now, or we would be seeing you to express our sympathy in person. Please just know you are all in our thoughts and prayers and that we will never forget knowing, working / being friends with your dad.
So sorry to hear of Phil's passing......a real gentleman. MY office and his classroom were across from each other in the Jr. High he was always in a jovial mood and kept me informed about Ann after she retired......now they can be together again. You girls can be proud of having two great parents. Elly Tkach

Christie and Family,
My heartfealt sympathy goes out to all of you. Your dad/grandpa was a very special person and I am sure that he will be missed.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. He was one of the best substitutes I ever had to call when I was the substitute caller for Moon Area School District. He was always so excited and happy that I called. He never declined a job. You will be in my prayers during this sad time.
In God's love,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chris & the Colella family. It was our priviledge to get to know Phil & Chris at the Holy Family. We are greatful to having shared Phil's Notre Dame memories & watching his football highlights CD + our Moon HS stories. John Lednak & family.
RIP Uncle Phil...you will never be forgotten.
