Tom, one my highlights from my years spent in Pittsburgh was meeting the Dempsey family. Your Dad was both a gracious host and wonderful conversationalist. I have missed all of you. So sad to hear of his passing.
Dear Jean and family,
I join you in my sorrow at Tom's passing. I knew him as a cousin from the time of his birth and you, Jean, from the Saturday afternoon you both met at an East Liberty bowling alley. He was indeed a wonderful and remarkable person,Catholic, and Lawyer. The family you had is a testament to your love and devotion to each other.

My friend Tom Jr. and the Dempsey Family, words can't express my true saddness at the passing of the Senior Tom, he was truly a great man from a great generation. I had the pleasure of meeting him again as an adult, and we had a connection through Uncle Jack Dempsey who was my neighbor when i was a child, after reconecting through work, him as a great attorney and myself as a clerk, i alway's looked forward to seeing him, whether in the office on the street or in Kaufmanns (Macy)it will always be Kaufmans he once told me. Anytime i would see him we would alway's have a nice chat and he would alway's send me off with a "It's always good to see you" and you knew he meant with all his heart, he was just that kind of man.You all can rest assured that God will hold this fine man close to Him. Rest in Peace my friend.
I received word of your husbands passing and it devastates me. I have worked the Frick bldg. as daylight security for the last four years and had the pleasure of serving both you and your husband. Most of all you both were a blessing in my life. I will never forget you Mr. Dempsey. My prayers and loving thoughts go out to you Mrs. Dempsey and your family.
To my cousins,
Your father was always an upstanding man, gentle and kind. Uncle Tom always spoke about him with the utmost respect and loved him. My thoughts are wiht you on this sad day, but I know he lives in your hearts and for now is in a better place
Dear Dempsey family,
I am saddened by the loss of Mr. Dempsey. He was a good guy and a good father to his family. He was also a good lawyer when my mom needed a lawyer. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
Although I've basically been retired for the past decade, it seems like only yesterday that Tom and I locked horns. He represented many, many clients in condemnation cases against DOT which I represented. He was fun to try cases against. Always on top of the nuances of the law and ready to use them to his advantage. When in litigation with Tom, it was hard not to learn something regardless of the number years we battled (30+). It was always a cordial relationship.
Very sorry for the family's loss.
Jeff Giltenboth, Esq.
My deepest sympathies to the family. Our family has known Tom from St. Sebastain's and business. Mr Dempsey was a fine lawyer but more importantly a gentlemen who earned the respect of all who met him.

Our families met under unusual circumstances, and it became our privelege to be acquainted with the Dempsey clan, led by their patriarch, Tom Dempsey. What a warm, loving family he led - he will be sorely missed, we know. Deepest sympathies from the Volbers family to the Dempsey family on the loss of a most special man.
Barbara Volbers Soudan
I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Mr. Dempsey for the last 10 or so years as an appraiser and follow up expert witness in many real estate related cases. I was always impressed by his competency, demeanor and thoroughness, and I always felt absolutely safe as a witness with Tom. I also came to be a good friend of Tom's over this same period....and I was equally impressed by his Friendship qualities.
Mrs. Dempsey and Family,
My sympathy to you and your family. Mr. Dempsey was so kind and wonderful to work for. I met some very good friends through his law practice and cherish every moment I spent there. I will miss seeing both of you in church. Rest in Peace, Mr. Dempsey.
Jean and family. Our prayers go out to you in your time of great sorrow and loss. Shirley Breitenbach and family.
I can hear Minute Clerk Bill Young & other clerks speaking his name over & over introducing him to one panel of jurors after another as he was a very busy & highly respected trial lawyer; Tom Dempsey was a uniquely special guy who will be sorely missed; God bless his multitude of friends wherever they may be; take care
Tom was one of the best human beings that I have had the privilege of meeting. I met Tom (Mr. Dempsey) in 1977 when I was a Pitt law student. I needed a job and wanted experience in a law office, so I went to the Frick Building and knocked on the door of every law firm in the building, including Tom's. (Let me tell you, there are a lot of law offices in the Frick Building). Tom was the only lawyer in the building who took the time to speak with me. I ended up working for Tom as his law clerk for 2 years. During that time, I was able to observe Tom's passion for the law, and for helping people. Tom taught me a lot about how to practice law, but most importantly, about how to be a better human being. Tom, was a great mentor, both in life and in law, and I hope that I have been able to pass on his example to others. Tom will live on in our hearts and minds for ever. My condolences to Jeannie, and family
Dear Tom: I was saddened to read of your dad's passing. Please accept my condolences. - Jeff Pollock, Esq., Sq. Hill
