I could see you on that shoreline today; the waves drawing you near.
As the mist rolled in & the tide came close your destiny was clear.
I watched you go across the sand and slowly drift away.
I thought I glimpsed a younger boy, happily at play.
Your foot prints paused along the edge; horizon well in sight.
A second set of prints appeared: your guide into the light.
I look upon your face, a brother very dear. How can we let you go?
We still need you here.
Footprints in the sand…the waves soon tear apart.
They only last a moment but not those in our heart.
