We extend deepest condolence to the entire extended Mitchell family in the loss of their loved one and our dear friend and colleague, Commander Herman M. Mitchell.

We are keenly aware of the great loss to this community that his passing represents. While we are aware of the very important work he accomplished as a leader in the City of Pittsburgh Police Department, we are equally aware of the huge contributions he made in the larger community. We were privileged to work with him in a number of his community volunteer endeavors, including, more notably, the the Board of Directors of the Eva. P. Mitchell Nursing Home, and the Advisory Council of the Allegheny County Drug and Alcohol Program. Commander was a tireless volunteer who brought strong experience, integrity and character to every effort.

Commander Mitchell gave of his time, attention, considerable capability and sincere commitment in numerous ways and on incalculable occasions. Never demanding well-deserved accolades, Commander advocated tirelessly for untold numbers of people who could not strive or achieve for themselves.
You will probably never know how important he was to this community, but rest assured that he leaves a legacy that should make you all extremely proud.

We will miss him.
God bless and keep you.

With very sincere condolences,
Thomas McCants, Annette McCants Green and The McCants Family

Please accept my sincerest sympathy for your father's passing. I had the privilege and honor of working for Commander Mitchell in the Pittsburgh Police Department. He was a very caring and generous person to be around and know. May God be with the Mitchell family at the time of his passing.
