AMENT WILLIAM H.
Age 90, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Fairwinds Manor Nursing Home in Sarver, PA. Mr. Ament was married to his now deceased wife, Shirley M. (Blacksmith) Ament for 61 years. Mr. Ament is survived by his two sons, William J. Ament and Joseph M. Ament; daughter-in-law, Pegi Neumont-Ament; five grandchildren, Billy, Danny, Michael, Adam, and Audra; and five great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Fyfe) Ament. He was a lifelong resident of Shaler Twp. Mr. Ament served his country during WWII in the Navy. Mr. Ament was a survivor of a Kamikaze attack on the LST447. Mr. Ament was wounded during the attack and received commendations for his dedication and bravery. Mr. Ament continued serving his country and others by being a lifelong Volunteer Fireman at Undercliff Fire Hall, Shaler Twp., for over 50 years. During those many years he served on the Ambulance Crew and held multiple positions ranging from Lieutenant to Chief. Visitation will be Sunday, January 14, 2018, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at NEELY FUNERAL HOME, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Etna, PA.
