ALBERT C. "SONNY"
Of Edgewood, age 79, peacefully and surrounded by his children on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Together in heaven with his late wife of 54 years, Lucille M. (Fabian) Hartman; cherished father of Mary Ann Hartman of Forest Hills, Nancy (Dan) Sudsina of North Huntingdon, Diane Kemmerer of North Braddock and Carol (Jim) Tessauro of Squirrel Hill; loving grandfather of Jason Hartman, Rachel Sudsina, Dan Sudsina, Jr., Christina Marie and Tiffany Kemmerer, Darren Clark and Heather Hartman; also survived by six great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews; son of the late Launa and Albert Hartman; brother of Jean Stempler, Jackie Hartman and the late William Hartman. Al was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired Optometrist from Diamond Optical, Downtown. He was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood and served on the Board of Deacons, the Sessions Committee and the Christian Ed. Committee. Al was also a 35-year veteran of the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department with the rank of Lieutenant and serving as Treasurer. For years, he also was the Edgewood Community Santa Claus. Al was known for his devotion to his family, church and community, as well as being an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and bowler. He leaves a legacy of love. Friends welcome 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Ave., East Pittsburgh 412-824-8800 where a Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday at 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, in the Edgewood Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Memorial donations may be made to the Board of deacons of the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood, 120 E. Swissvale ave., Pgh., Pa. 15218 or the Edgewood Fire Dept., 2 Race St., Pgh., Pa. 15218.
