I am writing this for my mom - Shirley and Paul were very good friends with my parents while I was growing up in Mt. Oliver (1959-1978). I still have pictures of myself and younger Paul taken in my backyard when we were just toddlers. Although it's been several years since I've seen Shirley, I know that she and my mom talked on the phone and tried to keep in touch before my mom moved to assisted living. Our family sends its deepest sympathy in the passing of such a wonderful lady. My mom and I will always have good memories of the Hartman family, especially Shirley. She always knew how to make you smile.

Shirley will be missed by all to knew her. I was a member of her Red Hat Ladies and played Scrabble with her for a couple of years. She was one of my favorite ladies in Red Hats.

Dear Beverly and family and Paul,
I cannot begin to tell you how hard this is for me writing you to express my sadness on the lose of your beloved mother and "my dearest friend". Fifty years ago I met this dear friend and she did so much to make my life a happy place. If God ever sent an angel to earth it had to be her. She was a most giving person to anyone who needed anything where she could be of help. Her laughter and beautiful smile made you always want to be a part of her life. We had so many happy times together going on the Nativity Senior Trips, playings cards, going to movies.and just spending time together talking about our families especially our grandchildren, as proud grandmothers do. As the angels delivered her to God I am sure heaven became a nicer place that day. She was very true to her faith and the words Jesus spoke "welcome home my good and faithful servant" were written for her. May she rest in the arms of the Lord . She is not gone but just away and my memories of her will be with me forever. To her family she will always be close at heart as she carefully watches over them each day. Take of your well deserved rest my dear friend and until we meet again I love you and will miss you but never forget you. Please Jesus take good care of my wonderful friend.
With a sad heart,
Mildred Welsch
