I'm heartbroken! I love you and miss you so much and wish i could have said goodbye. You loved me unconditionally and i will always be grateful for that!

Dear Vern we are so sad to see you leave us but we know you'll be at rest in your heavenly father's arms. Vern was the first and only pastor I actually would call "My Pastor" and as I grew older he was also my friend and counselor. He married me and Tom Miller in 1985 and helped us write our vows from the book of Ruth; "for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God" and I still have the cross stitch with that verse that Lorrie made for as a wedding gift.
I always considered Vern to be a dear friend, and even though we moved to California only a few years after getting married, he always welcomed us back to Bakerstown Alliance during our annual trips home to Pittsburgh. I always enjoyed our visits with him. He was wise and compassionate, but also had a great sense of humor.
He didn't hesitate to help out when Tom's mother, Evelyn, became ill in 2014. He stopped by the Miller home to pray and comfort her several times and officiated her funeral. When Tom's dad Vern Miller suddenly passed away Sept 6th, 2016, he was right there for us again and officiated his funeral as well. That was the last time we saw him and we'll miss him dearly.
RIP Vern Borchert and thank you for everything. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

What a wonderful man and pastor he was when we knew him at Bakerstown Alliance. A heart so large and kind and a voice so quiet but he spoke like Jesus would speak. The work he started at the Lighthouse will continue and grow in the capable hands of those who had his vision. Heaven is richer now. Well done good and faithful servant.

The most wonderful kind and caring man of God that I have ever had the privilege to know! Soar with the Angels, Vern! We will always love you!
