Elizabeth H. Berg February 2, 1922 - November 16, 2012

Elizabeth Hehr Berg died peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the age of 90, after a long illness, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge in Charlottesville, Virginia. Elizabeth, the daughter of Elizabeth and Friedrich W. Hehr, was born on February 2, 1922, in Dusseldorf, Germany, where she spent the first five years of her life. She studied at the Art Institute in Los Angeles and the L'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale in Paris. She worked with the couturier Hubert Givenchy, and also studied design in New York, furthering her career with several major fashion manufacturers. She then maintained her own design studio, Right On, and contributed ideas to some of the better designer collections in New York. Elizabeth married Richard T. Berg, a technical editor for McGraw-Hill Inc., on January 22, 1966. and they lived and worked in New York, and in their leisure they enjoyed attending theater, opera and ballet, as well as travel to France. After completing her fashion design career, Liz and Dick retired to Cos Cob, Connecticut for six years and then in 1987 moved to Charlottesville, Virginia , spending winters in Palm Desert, California. She was an avid tennis player and was also active in art circles, particularly the Charlottesville-Albemarle Art Association and the Watercolor Guild. Elizabeth did volunteer work at the University of Virginia Medical Center and at the Bayly Art Museum. Mr. Berg passed away on March 22, 2001.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Brigid Merriman and three grandchildren.
