Leon Jackson (Buddy) Moore, 77, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2013. He was a Navy Veteran with 19 years of service and a Roanoke City Letter Carrier for 26 ½ years. Buddy was preceded in death by his son, James Moore; parents, James and Audrey Moore; mother-in-law, Ruby Jacobs; two brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie; sons, Terry Moore and Richard Moore; granddaughters, Nikki Moore and friend, Eric Logan, Corey Moore and fiance, Michael Ensminger; grandson, Cody Hicks; great-grandsons, Quentin Slash and Austin Slash; great-granddaughter, Haylen Hicks; and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Oakey's East Chapel with the Rev. Shawn Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.Oakeys.com.

I worked with Buddy at the Post Office at Melrose. I had just started in '88 and I remember what a great worker he was. I am a better carrier because of Buddy.

Looking at this picture is the way I so remember Buddy. What a great Angel God has received. You will be missed by so many as you have touched so many.

Buddy was one of my best friends. Buddy and Marie came to SC to visit several time and one of those times we went to Atlanta to see their favorite Baseball teams the Cubbies.
We enjoyed our times together and this will be missed so much. A great person very helpful at all times.
