Not sure what to say?

I am so saddened that Richard is no longer here. I was privileged to work with him at Cvs. Everyday he was happy, funny and protective of us ladies at the pharmacy. One of my favorite attributes was he would call Rene before leaving work. God i loved hearing him make that call. I really miss him

What a loss to your family and to everyone who ever knew Dick. For so many years, my life was blessed to be in contact with him through the store. I still look at that space in the Encina Grande shopping center and see every aisle of the store, exactly where it was for so many years! And in the back corner I'd find Dick (and Chuck) who never failed to brighten my day. Remember when our boys, ages about 9 and 10 missed a Greyhound connection in Vallejo and arrived in San Francisco instead of the Oakland depot where I was waiting for them? No cell phones in those days, and of course, no one was at our home to get their frantic call, but what number did they have at the top of their little brains? Mortensen's Encina Drug, 939-5211, where they called for help. I look at Dick's picture here, and it's exactly how I remember him looking at me about it after all turned out well. I hope to see him in Heaven one day.

To the Mortensen family...... How great it was, years ago, to go into Mortensen's Encina Drug Store and be greeted with a grin and a helpful attitude by my friend Dick. We will miss him and send our love and prayers to you.... Eunice

I first met Mr. Mortensen in the late sixties. I was working for Dr. Schmidt, and the Mortensens at Encino Grande were always fun to talk with. It was heartwarming to meet up with Mr. Mortensen at CVS after all these years. He always was a gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor, and you could tell he loved what he was doing.
