ALBURQUERQUE, NM - Timothy Connor Holm, age 57, of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 28, 2020. Tim was a highly successful attorney with the law firm of Modrall Sperling for 30 years. He was an avid bicyclist (having completed over 50 "century" rides) and a die-hard UNC basketball fan. He was a fiercely intelligent and hugely generous man. He took care of those he loved with intense devotion. He will be remembered and missed by many, many people. Tim is survived by his brother, Eric Holm of Wilmington, NC; and his sister, Annie Holm of Burlington, NC. A private Memorial Service will be held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. His ashes will be scattered at St. Jude's Chapel in the mountains of North Carolina, where the ashes of his mother Arlis, his sister Kristina, and his sister Susan are at rest. His friends and colleagues are producing a remote tribute to Tim, timing to be announced.

Tim was a great person and a great lawyer. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. We had some cases together a few years ago and I really enjoyed his company and his sense of humor. We kept in touch emailing about the Chicago Bears and Better Call Saul. The world was a better place because of Tim. May he rest in peace.

I was deeply saddened and shocked by the news of Tim's passing. I have fond memories of hanging out at Tim's house during our high school years; playing basketball, tennis, and video games (that kids today would think pitiful). We went on from high school to room together at Carolina for 3 years - and no less in the same dorm room all 3 years.
I see from a memoriam on his law firm site that he enjoyed cycling in his later years. When in high school and college, he was a dedicated runner. I recall he competed in cross country in high school. He continued his running every day at UNC, rain or shine and no matter the temperature. He brought that same dedication to his studies, and he inspired me that way. When we were all 3 in the dorm room, Tim would often wear headphones with static (not music) playing in them just to block out any surrounding sounds.
Tim and I spent many hours playing tennis or playing one on one basketball in Woolen Gym at UNC. We were great friends but fiercely competitive, each wanting to beat the other badly. I think we each won about half the time. Occasionally, a couple of other guys would come along and we'd play two on two. Tim and I are both on the shorter side, but we held our own pretty well. One time we played a couple of the UNC football players. That was challenging, and I recall nearly breaking a finger in that match-up.
Of all the times we were there playing (Woolen was connected to Carmichael Auditorium where the Tar Heels played prior to the Smith Center) the basketball coaches never came around to ask us to join the UNC team. They were too busy messing around with some guys named Jordan, Worthy and Perkins.
Tim and I lost touch over the years, but I knew he had been at or near the top of his law school class and that he was a very successful attorney in NM. That didn't surprise me about Tim. I knew his intelligence, hard work, and determination would serve him well.
I will miss him even though we lived far apart and were perhaps too busy to stay in touch of late. I don't do the Facebook thing.
Eric and Annie, I am so sorry for your loss and will be praying for and thinking of you in this difficult time.
