Neil Lamoine Schroeder, 78, of Rexburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, June 20, 2014.
Neil was born July 10, 1935, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Elgert Henry Schroeder and Luella Markham Schroeder. Neil was the third of eight children – seven boys and one girl.
He moved to Rexburg after graduation from high school to attend Ricks College. Shortly after moving to Rexburg, he met his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Rhea Fullmer Schroeder. Rhea and Neil were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 5, 1955. Together they raised three sons and one daughter and lost an infant daughter at birth.
He enjoyed life to the fullest, with his most enjoyable times being spent with family playing pool and ping-pong, snowmobiling and fishing; he enjoyed other hobbies that included bowling, dancing, draft horses and collecting cars. Among his most enjoyable memories were the many years he taught ballroom dancing with Rhea.
He is survived by his wife, Rhea; sons, Scott F. (Cynthia) Schroeder of American Fork, Utah, Randy Neil (Tara) Schroeder of Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., and Gary L. (Lenece) Schroeder of Rigby/Salmon, Idaho; and daughter, Karin (David) Guzzetti of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with another on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents; baby daughter, Schelli Ann; his brother, Dick, with whom he shared a special bond; and a daughter-in-law, Rita (Scott).
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Park Street LDS Chapel, 700 Park St. in Rexburg.
