I remember Mayor Koch standing on line in front of me at the viewing of the late assemblyman Anthony Genovese. When the ushers came to him and said your honor, we will take you to the front now, he responded "I will wait in line, I will not go in front of others standing here before me". He then turned and said to me, "how'd I do? I replied, "great". A class act for a world class New Yorker, R.I.P. Mayor Koch

Mr. Mayor, Although I didn't live in the city during your term, I loved your wit & straifgt-forward demeanor. Rest in Peace & may God bless you.
thank you Mr.Mayor for being such a good man and for showing us that we can all do good as people and not to waste one minute of life.
Worked on an interview tv show with Mayor Koch in my NYC studio 2 years ago. Tech delays caused my pre-interview to stretch to an hour. He was patient kind and supportive but memorably also remarkably perceptive, clear and engaging. He outlined five very good reasons he was not inclined at that time to support Obama's reelection. He praised Truman and JFK and pointed out with sadness that gentlemen of their views and his own are now absent from his party. In the end he did support Obama. He was a politician, after all. But it was fascinating to converse with a brilliant Senior man genuinely questioning his own deeply held beliefs. America sorely needs leaders with Ed Koch's personal integrity and introspection. He was unique and history will remember him with praise. RIP Mr. Mayor.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE,AMEN FR NIKKY.
REST IN PEACE MY GOD BLESS YOU. AND YOUR. FAMILY.
Ed was a great guy and friend. I met him back in 1989.He will be missed by all who knew him. RIP...

Mr. Mayor,
I worked in NYC in summer of '83 and every so often, you'd give a speech on the steps of City Hall directly to the people eating their lunch. It was good to see a Mayor talking to the public directly. You came in at a hard time for NYC, but you made it survive and thrive and more friendly.
May you rest in peace, you deserve it.
BTW: "You are doing a great job"

Mr Koch:you were truely their for the people, not just another politician.god bless.
I have always respected how you loved your city and made it a better place under your watch. You were the best selling tool that city will ever have.
Our son Matthew was chosen as a recipient of the 1986 Mayor's Volunteer Youth Awards Program, but was unable to attend the award ceremony because he was terminally ill. When informed that Matthew could not travel to City Hall, Mayor Koch visited him at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
The Mayor and Matthew had a very friendly, upbeat and humorous conversation. Before he left the Mayor asked Matthew if he liked cheese cake and promised to send him one made by his personal chef. It arrived in Matthew's hospital room the next day and was shared by the pediatric patients and staff.
We will always remember Mayor Edward Koch's kindness to Matthew and his service to New York City. We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Sorry to hear of your loss...may you find comfort from our Heavenly Father, Jehovah. 1Cor. 1:3
Nice man, kind man-as mayor of New York during a dark time in its history, and a devoted public servant up until the time of his passing. He might be considered "the Fiorello" of this generation. Rest in Peace, Mr. Koch!

RIP Mayor Kock, God Bless your soul. I had the HONOR to meet you 4 years ago, and will always remember your graciousness. You were my favorite NY Mayor by far. May your spirit soar.

Respectfully,
Dear Mr. Mayor,
Even as a Bostonian, I too mourn your passing. I wish we had more politicians like you, neverincing words. May your memory be a blessing. Thanks for your service in WW2 and as an elected official .
How sad! I first met Mayor Koch during a Pulaskii Day parade years ago. I was from Oakland, CA, which had a very serious, unapproachable mayor, I was taking pictures of the Mummers, when a very funny man danced in front of my camera--I thought
he was one of my husband's eccentric uncles from Ozone Park.
Then people in the crowd said that I'd just met the Mayor of
NYC. I've had a soft spot for him ever since.
As a fellow native New Yorker, you embodied the spirit of New Yorkers. You told it like it was, never tried to sugar coat it and were not afraid of taking a controversial stand knowing it was right. We loved your honesty, humor and passion. Our Lord is truly lucky to have one of the best looking down on us.
Mayor Ed Koch,Their will never be another like you. May you rest in peace.
Rest In Peace Mayor Koch! You were one of a kind! From a Native New Yorker
My deepest sympathy to the Koch family.

Thanks for making NYC the greatest city in the world.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
Thank you Mayor Koch for leading the city through an incredibly difficult time period. You embodied the spirit of the city and its people, and no one ever doubted that you loved both. I volunteered in your 1982 Campaign for Governor, and I still think you would have made just as good a Governor as you were a Mayor. You were always a pleasure to meet. How did you do?-Very well.
Rest in Peace, Mayor Koch. There is only one City you could ever have been Mayor of and, thankfully, that is my City. You will always be remembered.
prayers go out to the Koch's family.
He was a true original. So sorry.
The loss of a loved one is a very sad and heavy load to bear. May you find comfort in the hope given at: (2 Cor. 1:3)
From all I have ever read or heard you were a great Mayor.... Rest in peace... From a former NY State resident....
A man for all seasons and greatness. Sympathy to his family and friends.
Trina Malatian
Mr. Koch: You weren't my mayor but I often wished you were. My sympathies to your family, friends and all of NYC.
Mayor Koch, a true icon. What a great example you were! Loved your quick wit. Rest in Peace. God Bless!
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
Future generations will listen to Simon & Garfunkel & wonder "who he?". We were a bit luckier to say the least. Sympathy & kindest regards to the Koch family & very many friends wherever they may be. God bless 1 & all. Take care.
You are one of my heroes! God Bless You,Sweet Soul.
Rest in peace Mayor Koch.
Mayor Koch was "the people's mayor". New York City was the heart of him. He honored my Grandmother in 1984 for teaching English as a second language when she retired at age 84. He was the type of Democrat we need more of in this day and age.

I read "The Mayors" obit and I was amazed at his great Character and now I so wish we had more Politicians like him, he had America and what should be "Right on!" Thank you, Mr. Mayor. You will be missed greatly by this former New Yorker.
A true New Yorker. We love you and will miss you.

I always had a lot of respect for this man. His smile would warm the heart. He would have made a great president!
Koch Family,
What an icon he was and will always be to me. He was my Mayor for the 20 years I resided in Brooklyn, New York. Mayor Koch dance to his on beat and was not afraid of a good fight. I will always remember his favorite saying, How am I doing? You did GREAT. Rest in peace Mayor Koch. Koch family, may each of you find strength and comfort in God's loving arm through your time of sorrow. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one.
Peace I leave unto each of you.
Ed Koch was one of the greatest American characters in our history. He defied pat descriptions and all his thoughts were derived from "sanity" and pragmatism. He was one of the most entertaining politicians of the 20th century, the TV news at 7 and 11 was never the same after he left office. Condolences to all of the bereaved.
I had the honor of working in Mr. Koch's 1970 Congressional campaign and all of his ensuing campaigns until he retired from electoral politics. He was the quintessential New Yorker and proud pride to his city, to his country, to his family and to his faith. He will be missed terribly by all who knew him.
My deepest sympathy is with his sister and all of his family.
God rest his soul.
Never met Mayor Koch, but always enjoyed reading and hearing his commentary.
What a wonderful and genuine American treasure! Unlike most national political figures, "Hizzonor" was always his own man!
I shall greatly miss Mayor Koch's sage wisdom and honest insight. He was a true patriot.
Rest in peace.....

What a great Mayor. He was full of personality and he got the job done. Rest in Peace.
I loved Ed Koch. My favorite moment was his response to the Secretary General of the UN, who was complaining that NYC didn't provide more police protection for a visit from Prince Charles (I think). The secretary said that if NY could afford more security for these occaisions the UN might consider moving out of NY. Koch responded with, "Hey, see ya!"
God bless you ~ Rest in peace.
Mayor Koch definitely used his life fighting for what he believed to be right. Let us continue to pray for the day when all things on earth will take place according to God's will.

With deepest sympathy to the Koch family during your time of grief...God is for you a refuge and strength, A help that is there to be found during difficult times...May God provide you with peace and comfort to endure the days ahead.
I'm deeply sadden to know that former Mayor Ed Koch has passed. He was the first political figure to help me realize I had an opinion and a right to voice that opinion. He attended a city council meeting at the City of Midwood High School back in 1984 and I asked him to voice his opinion and plan regarding the poor conditions of mass transportation at the time. I was 14 years old and it was the first time I'd ever spoken to or challenged a political figure publicly. His acknowledgement and response triggered a continued lifetime of voicing my opinion and being heard. I now have a 14 year old son and I encourage him to be vocal and have an opinion. Ed Koch changed the face of New York City and brought us out of a very dark time socially and economically. My thanks to him for all he did for our great city...Your Honor, you done well!
So sorry for the loss of this tried and trusted man. My prayers are with his family.Thank you for you years of dedicated service to NYC.
Extrodinary man! Rest in Peace Mr. Mayor! You've earned the rest. Happy home-going sir!
