My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Nick Sanchez
It was around 1954 or 1955 that, due to lack of work, I was temporarily transferred from the South Sheet Mill Annealing to the Tin Division's DCR Mill at US Steel. This is where I first met Nick Sanchez. Nick was the Foreman and at the time and through his demeanor, leadership, personality and concern provided a learning experience that stayed with me throughout my 41 years at US Steel. He was a gentleman.
I always held him in high esteem and in some ways I tried to reach the bar that he set in human behavior.
His ability to address and work out through stressful situations came to my being on many occasions as I continued my career with the mill.
It was a pleasure and a rewarding experience knowing Nick.
R.I.P. Nick. You served life well.
