Rev. Kim Scales Hicks was one of the most brilliant, compassionate and visionary human bengs i have ever had the pleaseure of meeting. I met her in the early 2000's while she worked as D.Min. Director at McCormick Seminary. It was through her excellent work that i eventually developed a relationship with the seminary and delivered several public lectures there in the coming years. I now that she loved God, her family, her children, and she was serious about ministry. She was an excelent preacher - insightful exegesis of the text, probing application of the narrative, able to communicate warmth through her preaching.
Please forgive me for being rather lengthy, but i just learned of her passing an hour ago!!!! I am still in shock!!! My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with her family - husband, children, parents, siblings, and others - as they continue with the adjustment process following her homegoing last year. I know they will miss her.... and i can share that i will definitely genunely miss her as well. My life is infinitely richer for having met Rev. Kim Scales Hicks. To God be the Glory.

Mi querida hermana (my dear sister):You are and forever will be in my thoughts and heart. A woman of God once here on earth whose love, caring and beauty continues to touch our lives.
To her lovely family; I remember with you and honor her memory. She blessed the lives of many...she blessed me with her friendship and sharing of faith.

God's peace,

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Scales –
I hope you remember me from when Kim was at NU. Kim and the rest of your family were very gracious and extended your hospitality to come to your home for Thanksgiving. It was a very kind act of friendship from Kim. We also had a short visit with each other when Darnae came to see the University of SC.
To Mr. Hicks, to Kim's kids and to the Scales family -- I am so sad to hear of Kim's passing. She was a very beautiful person. I don't ever remember her in any other way except as being a nice and welcoming human being. Please know that her time with us was a wonderful testament regarding the blessings that a person's existence can bring to others.

A year has come and gone...it has been a year since Kim entered the gates of the kingdom! Mr. and Mrs. Scales and family, I am sure that Kim is believing that you will maximize your time by fulfilling your purpose here on earth with the love, the passion, the power, and the peace of God. Be courageous and very confident because the Lord is with you! I love you and I will never forget your legacy of love that affected my life through Kim.
