I was thinking be a positive memory in my life. I was a troubled teen and he was a strong and positive figure in my life i know that i would not have made it through High school if it were not for him. I remember when i decided to quit school he tried to talk me out of it but the stubborn person that i was did not listen. He told me that if i ever needed him he would be there for me. I left school and home and for a year. Things did not work out for me. I could not get a job and found my self living a hard horrible life in that year. I decided to come back to school that was my new start to try to do better. my mom was against me returning so i had to sign my self in. The principle and some of the faculty was against my returning because of my age but Mr. Buckwalter fought for me I thought him to be a strong Dinosaur,(a T-Rex) which i later made for him in Art class. He was a great man. Different times i would return to the school and pay him a visit and he always had the T-Rex on display in his office. I know that this memory is late forgive me for that. But i just wanted to let his family know that he meant a lot to me.

Prayers to his family. I loved him when I was in school
Just read of Mr. Buckwalter's passing in West Chester University magazine. I owe just about everything in my professional life to him. His example in the physical education classroom and his help in gaining entrance into the PE program at WCU led me to a 38 year career teaching PE. My daughter also followed the same path and teaches Health and PE at Hershey HS. Craig and Mrs Buckwalter, I have fond memories of times spent at your house and going to playoff basketball games. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jim(Corky)Batchelor.

Dear Mrs. Buckwalter or "Old Gloria" as Mr. Buckwalter affectionately referred to you in the halls of Pottsgrove High, and family, I am so terribly sorry to hear of the passing of such a wonderful man. Mr. Buckwalter was truly a one of a kind man with the largest heart and most sincere interest in students' and their success I have ever seen exhibited by an educator in the past 40+ years! He will be terribly missed but with a man such as he, his memory will last forever. May God be your comfort, strength and peace as he is no longer suffering and is now free. I am forever grateful for the mark he left on my life. You all will be in my prayers.- Valerie Harris Jackson Pottsgrove Class of 88
I like to remember "Big Lou" as not only my vice principle at pottsgrove but as a friend and tough competitor on the course. I had the pleasure of his challenges many times. My condolences to the Buckwalter family! We lost a great one! He made an impact on me!

As a former Pottsgrove High School student I remember he had such a strong presence about him that most of the students (myself included) feared him in a way. But now as and adult I realize that it wasn't fear we had for him, it was respect. He was definitely a man I would never forget.
Mr. Buckwalter aka Lou was a fixture at Pottsgrove High. An institution. He touched a lot of students with his unique brand of humor and caring intertwined. RIP Lou. Our sympathy to Gloria and family! David Schafer PHS class of 1980
