To Joan's Family,
I think it would be fair to say that we first met Joan through her Scotties! As members of the Pawling Fire Department, we were often outside working in the front of Station 1 on South Street. We would often see this lady walking her two beloved Scotties and would exchange a friendly wave. After a few such encounters
we finally introduced ourselves to each other and fell in love with Joan, her accent and of course, her Scotties!
Shortly afterwards we began construction on something very meaningful to all firefighters -our memorial to those who lost their
lives on 9-11. Joan inquired what we were building and when we explained to her , she went home and came back with a very generous donation in hand. No fanfare or public accolades- just done in a quiet,sincere manner.
After awhile we began to see Joan less often on her walks. We ran into her on Election Day last Nov. and were so happy to see her although it was obvious that life was getting very difficult for her. She is at peace now and we find comfort in that. But we will always remember with fondness Joan - "the Lady with the Scotties".

For my Mom (12/31/1931-8/24/2015):
You have joined Grandma, Grandpa, Henry and all who went before you, to God's Kingdom. On that morning, you stood before the Lord and His Face shone upon you....You have stood in His Glory, and on that day, there was no dawn and no sunset.... through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
John 14:27 Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm on your face,
The rain fall softly on your fields;
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His Hand.
No more tears and no more pain.... Just His Light and Everlasting Life.....
Love,
John
