Bernice Putzer Obituary

Putzer, Bernice H.

Bernice H. Putzer (Poklasny), age 88, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday evening, July 23, 2014, at her home with her daughters at her side. She was born in Oshkosh on January 2, 1926, to the late Ida (Lang) Poklasny and the late Joseph Poklasny. Bernice married Harold Putzer on June 5, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Bernice dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. As a faithful member of Sacred Heart (Oshkosh), St. Vincent's (Oshkosh), St. Mary Magdelene (Waupaca) and St. Raphael Catholic Parishes throughout her lifetime, Bernice found peace and comfort in her Catholic faith. In their early years, Bernice and her husband enjoyed vacationing in Eagle River. They owned a home on the Waupaca Chain o'Lakes and enjoyed entertaining family and friends there for 14 years. For nearly 20 years, they also loved spending their winters in Gulf Shores, AL.

In her final years Bernice lived at The Rivers, Oshkosh, where she was blessed with many friendships and a sense of community.

Bernice is survived by her daughters, Camille (Tim) Welch, Appleton, and Mary (Pat) Phair, Waupaca. She is survived by her nine grandchildren: Sarah (Neil) Mix, Elizabeth (Greg) Strick, Matt (Connie) Phair, Michael (Dia) Welch, Kate (Ollie) Keefer, Molly (Ryan) Schroeder, Emily Phair, Kevin (Molly Doroy) Phair, and Meghan Welch. She was blessed to have 13 great grandchildren with one more on the way. She is furthered survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and friends that she cherished deeply.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her daughter, Laura; sisters Lorraine Bloesl, Dolores Jungwirth, Cecelia Drexler, Marie Poklasny; and her brother, Joseph Poklasny.

Bernice's daughters would like to thank the Right At Home caregivers for the exceptional love and care shown to their mother. They would also like to thank Affinity Hospice for their support of Bernice and her family in her final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Raphael Catholic Church with the Reverend Doug LeCaptaine officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 9:00am until the hour of services.

In Lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established.
