Montrose, PA: Ross W. Carter, 75, of Montrose, PA, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA. He was born on January 29, 1939 in Birchardville, PA, to the late Norman D. and Margery J. (Wheaton) Carter. His wife of 55 years, Dorothy A. (Coy) Carter, survives. Also surviving are his six children and their spouses, Penny Jo Musto, Clarks Summit, PA, Tony and Josie Carter, Montrose, PA, Pam and Ed Marks, Conklin, NY, Joy and George Ross, Binghamton, NY, Scott and Stephanie Carter, Hallstead, PA, Sally and Steve Shelp, Willow Springs, NC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Quida Carter, FL, David and Judy Carter, Montrose, PA; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Carter; and a sister, Joyce Carter. Ross was a carpenter for over 50 years. He loved girls' softball; he coached and sponsored a team. He also loved basketball, especially the Celtics. Above all, he loved his kids and grandkids. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, PA, with Rev. Sara Kolenda of the Franklin Forks United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Brookside Cemetery, Franklin Forks, PA. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
