I met Nello many years ago when I was a child. I knew then he was a very special man. So friendly and loving. I just recently re-connected with him at Sam's and made sure I was there on the second Friday of the month so I could see him. I will miss him greatly.
I remember being a young girl and my Grandmother Fannie Fouche would come in to get lunch for anyone at the wrecking yard. Nello was always so kind and he'd give me a slice of bologna. I last saw him at Mr Vinci's birthday party and he remembered me!
I will always remember Nello and feel fortunate to have known him! RIP, my friend.
My prayers are with the family. R.I.P Im praying for you Alex.
Such an example of unconditional love and acceptance of all and of love of life. As much as Nello loved and was loved - he will me missed. What a gift he is and has been to each, to me. Much love and prayers to the family and friends of this amazing man.
We new Nello over 50 years and he was a great man. We will miss him. RIP
Nello was such a special friend to our family! He always handed me a slice of salami when my Grammie would go shop for meat at Ray's Market. His smile and warm personality is a wonderful memory to this day! RIP Nello and thank you for all the wonderful warm memories!
Nello ranks at the very top of my list of best people I've ever got to share time with. He included me in everything like family. He was real family to me thus GrampNello. He was one of a kind and will never leave my heart. What was not to love?
I can't think of Nello without remembering his wonderful smile and how he always made people feel special! He will be missed by all of us who loved him.
I have been blessed and honored to have shared the past 30years of my life with Nello...From the moment I met him...I fell in love with this Sprited-hard working-social butterfly...Nello accepted me into his family with open arms..as though I was one of his own blood...maybe because of my Italian heritage...or maybe because I married his eldest grandson and blessed him with more grand babies...any way...I know that he has been reunited with his lovely wife...Mary...I'm sure that they are happily ever after together once again...you will both be remembered forever in my heart...I LOVE YOU!!! <3 <3 <3 Ruth Novello-Dixon
Nello was the best, sweetest man ever! My boyfriend and I lived across the street from him for 2 1/2 years.. He was so kind and generous, always dropping off his homegrown veggies with a smile..he will be deeply missed! What an awesome life he lived :)
Nello worked for our Dad as a butcher for 18 years. He was a wonderful mentor to both of us as we would go after school to the Pershing Market to wait for our Dad, Louis Tonelli. We both cherish the visits we had with him in the last few months. We also remember his wonderful wife, Mary at parties and picnics.
I am so sorry to hear of Nello's passing. He has been a friend of our family for years and I always looked forward to seeing him around. He was always such a joy! My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. (Sandra- I am Nancy "Taylor's" daughter)
I remember when Nello worked at the then McCormick's Corby Market,(in the 1950's).
Many times when,I went in the store, he would give me a hot dog, along with his smile.
Such a really nice gentleman.
RIP in my friend.
OMG! And I talked with him a week ago. I'm so sorry, Tony. I guess 100 years was plenty for him and he saw no reason to hang around any longer. I loved the man, too, though probably not as much as did you. He's gone to a better place. I'm sure Mary will welcome him.
Nello C Bassignani my grandfather has been the most significant and influential role model in my life, and I strive to be at the vary least half the man that he was. <3 <3 <3
