Rosa GRECO-ORTEGA Obituary

Rosie, 43 years young, passed away peacefully in her beautiful country home on November 28, 2012 surrounded by her beloved family after a very courageous battle with breast cancer. Rosie worked for Roseland School District for nearly 20 years, as a school secretary at Roseland Elementary, then as an accounts payable clerk and then was promoted to District Business Manager. During her time as District Business Manager she played a major role in opening Roseland University Prep, Roseland Collegiate Prep and Roseland Creek Elementary School. She loved her job despite her illness; she was determined to see the district thru an audit in October which she did with excellence. As a former Roseland School District student herself, she had a huge heart for students and parents. Rosie went above and beyond to help wherever help was needed. She was a treasured friend and employee in the Roseland School District. She is survived by her loving husband Nicolo, and their children, Alexandria, Nicolo II, Leopoldo and Demetria. Also survived by her loving mother Dolores "Lola" Ortega, her brothers and sisters, Leo Jr. (Candice), David (Sylvia), Carlos, Evelia, Adolfo (Julie) and Erica (Robert). She is preceded in death by her father Leopoldo Ortega. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 with a Rosary at 5:30 pm at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave., a Funeral Mass will be held on Thurs, December 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 398 10th Street, with committal to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 2930 Bennett Valley Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95401. Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen & Lance Chapel, 545-3747.

Not sure what to say?

Nick,Alex,Nico and Polo:
My heart goes out to you. My tears won't stop. Your wife/mom is who I aspire to be like. She was the most gentle, thoughtful, caring, laid back woman I know. The times I was around her whether it be at soccer games, or elementary school with our kids, she just always had such an aura of peace and calm about her. She is now an angel watching over her beautiful family. May god be with you, please know you are all in our hearts and prayers.

On behalf of my grandmother, Raquel Oandason and our entire family, we are sadden by the news of Rosie's passing. May she rest in peace now, pain free. She is now our angel in heaven. No mother should bury their daughter and no child shall say goodbye to their mother before her time. May we all remember her for the loving woman she was, and her contagious smile. Prayers to the Ortega/Greco family. She will never be forgotten.

Our hearts are heavy and filled with sadness over Rosie's passing. My daughter Madison played soccer with Polo and our kids went to Olivet together for a time. She was always so sweet and always had a smile on her face! Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and close friends as we pray for their peace and comfort at this difficult time and for strength to move forward in the days ahead. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.

I am so sorry for your families loss. Although I did not know Rosa later in life I do remember her in junior high. She always had a smile on her face and was always kind. It is always wonderful to know what incredible things people we have gone to school with have gone on and achieved in their lives, but it is also heart breaking to have such a wonderful person's candle be extinguished far to early in life. My prayers to the family and friends of Rosa.

Rosie is my auntie. I don't think I could possibly express how much I love her or how special she is to me. She was one of the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. When she smiled it made you want to smile and her laugh could make a bad day good. She loved to run and spend time with family. Family was the most important thing to her in the world next to God. She was a wonderful mother and will forever be my role model. She will be extremely missed but never forgotten.
