KEITH RUSSELL Obituary

KEITH WAYNE RUSSELL January 11, 1940 - June 18, 2017 It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Predeceased by Parents Bill and Molly Russell, Brother Karl Chun, First love and wife Cindy Russell (1987). Survived by his ever loving, caring wife and love of his life, Dorinne, Son Steven (Donna) Russell, Daughter Kim (Mark) Steinhauser, Stepson Sterling Dickie (Willow & son Anthony), Grandkids Justin and Tyler (Lindsey) Russell, Courtney (& daughter Natalie), Chase and Wyatt Steinhauser, Great Grandkids Landon and Carter Russell. Keith grew up in West Vancouver, though spent time working summers and a year of school in Westlock, Alta on the old Family farm. He proudly served as a Royal Canadian Engineer. He started his own family in North Vancouver and soon moved them to Prince George BC in 1966 to open his successful Denturist Practice. He enjoyed his time in the North coaching, mentoring, fishing, hunting, skiing and boating. Keith and Dorinne moved to Vernon in 1993 where he opened another successful Denturist office and they enjoyed life together motor homing throughout Canada and the U.S. as well as being chronically addicted to Golf. He shared all of his lifetime passions with Family and Friends. Keith's solid work ethic prevented idle hands and sometime after retirement he joined the Commissionaire's. No more loyal a friend you'd find and a more honourable, gentle and kind man, would be hard to find. He was a quiet man. You could both sit in the same room for an hour not saying a word, then both get up and say you had a nice visit, yet his quiet dry wit would crack you up and nothing will ever be the same without him. It was an unexpected short bout with a very aggressive cancer, but he faced the inevitable fearlessly with great strength and courage, smiling with a sense of humor until the end. Keith leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, integrity, fortitude and honour. He will never be forgotten and lives on in the hearts of those that knew him and loved him. Speak of him often and say his name aloud. Special thanks to friend, Dr. Peter Henley, all those that made Dad's life a joy, as well the caring and compassionate staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. No service by request, as he simply wouldn't want to put anyone out. He was funny that way. It's very fitting that Dad passed on Father's Day, because he was one of the very best! Keith's epitaph will read, "On the road again ..."

I was very saddened to hear of Keith's death (I will always think of him as Uncle Keith) as that is what we called him growing up. He is the whole reason we ended up in Prince George, my Father and he were friends and worked together at a Dental Lab in Vancouver and Uncle Keith convinced my Dad to come to Prince George to work for him. My Dad was so happy he took him up on his offer:) I remember both Keith and Cindy fondly. I remember spending lots of time with them and Steve and Kim when I was a child.
In fact this past year I had some home movies from the 1960's digitized for my Mom for Christmas and Uncle Keith and Auntie Cindy are prominent in most of them. Hunting trips, surprise costume parties, to Tachick Lake and horseshoes, it is nice to see the old movies of them all having so much fun. Dorinne did write and let my Mom know of Keith's passing which she really appreciated, Mom was very sad to hear this news. I just happened upon this spot to leave messages today, 4 years later but thought I would pass along my sympathies to Steve, Kim, Dorinne and their families and to let them know he (and Cindy) are thought of fondly. All my love to you all xo Patti

Dearest Dorinne, Steven, Kim and all the family.
I am shocked and much saddened to hear of our good friend Keith's passing.
I will never forget all the good times we all shared on Kelly St. and McDermid Dr. in Prince George. Keith was surely a true friend to me and my family for nearly thirty years. We enjoyed many a back yard BBQ and a beer or two. Of course the many fishing trips to Babine, Tatchick and other wilderness locations were always much fun and special.
Keith you will live on in my heart with love and respect forever.
John and George echo my thoughts as well.
Peace my Brother.

So sorry for your loss cuz. Uncle Keith and aunty Cindy were always my favourite. I remember the times your family and mine got together in Penticton and up at the lake , was so much fun . I thought uncle Keith was so cool ....shirt off bootin around in his brown metallic cobra ski boat. He always wore those frayed jeans and cowboy boots too. He never did tell me what he caught that 5lb rainbow on at Sulphurous Lake either . I always thought of Keith as Clint Eastwood of the north ......

Steve, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My condolences go out to you and your entire family. I never had the opportunity to know your father (I think my
brother Ron did) but I can say that to raise such a great son as yourself he must have been an amazing man. When we lose a loved one their life transforms into memories, and I'm sure your father has left you with a "treasure" of them. May you find comfort in them.
