On July 15, 2013, the Lord welcome home Mr. John Wesley Arrington. He was preceded in death by: his parents, James W. and Lucille B. Arrington; and a brother, Glennis Arrington.
John "Buck" Arrington was born in McKenney, on June 13, 1936, as the oldest son of James and Lucille. He entered the military service after high school, graduating with the class of 1954. He served in the United State Air Force during the Korean War.
He graduated from Del-Tech Community College in 1973 and Virginia State University in 1995. He dedicated over 40 years of military service in both the Air Force and Army. John retired from Fort Lee Army Base in March of this year as a bus driver.
Buck was beloved by all and was always available for anyone who called on him for his extensive automotive skills.
His love of all things automotive was a life-long commitment, with his latest project being the restoration of a 1965 Ford Truck and a 1974 Volkswagen Bug. His passions for fishing and education were other distractions in an already busy life.
But all these interests never interfered with his love of family. No distance was too great for him to travel to see a great-uncle or a third cousin.
He is survived by: wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Cynthia Townsend (John), Michelle Arrington (Marcus Cook), and Kim Arrington; a son, J. W. Arrington (Zaretta); grandchildren, Jennai Gulezian (Matthew), Jason Townsend, Miles Arrington and Emonie Dudley; two brothers, Joseph Arrington (Edith) and Horace Fitzgerald (Mary); a sister, Martha Malone; nieces and nephews, Pam Arrington, Debbie Thomas, Kevin Arrington, Pam Brown (Percy), Veronica Malone, and Anthony Malone.
He also leaves: two aunts, Ruth Britt and Helen Fisher; a great-uncle, Charles Fitzgerald; two great-aunts, Sally Casanova (Ralph) and Mona Wright; and a host of great-nieces; great-nephews; other relatives; cousins; friends; as well as adopted children.
Buck will be great missed by all whoever met him because of his warm smile and outgoing personality.
A service of love and remembrance for Mr. John W. Arrington will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg.
At the family's request, dish gardens and live plants for the service.
Family members and friends are invited to pay final tribute to Mr. Arrington and watch the funeral services live online at www.jmwilkersonsince1874.com.

To The Arrington Farmily.
Our hearts are heavy upon just hearing the news of John's death. He was a dear friend and a wonderful person. We spent many hours together just having a wonderful time. After John moved to Virginia from Wilmington we slowly lost touch but I often thought of him over the years. May you rest in peace old friend. I'm going to miss you.

The loss of a love one is so hard to face,
you just want to run and get away from that place.
Death is transformation we all must go through,
I know it's hard especially when it is someone
you loved that was extremely close to you.
Just understand that he is in a better place
and the love that he provided not even death can erase.
It seems unfair and yes this is true
but his spirit will continue to live through each one of you.
God has called him home where all day they rejoice and sing,
I imagine now he is trying out his new set of wings.
I appreciate the weekend talks, mentoring and guidance he gave me.
My heart felt thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Arrington Family.
