I never met Mr Maderia and wish I would of searched for him before 2018. You see my grandmother, Fern Glover, was his wife's cousin. My great aunt told me many many stories of his wife. Of course my great aunt is deceased. She kept many many letter from Jean and I have many clippings etc of Jean. I would of loved to of met Jeans husband!

Very sad to learn about the passing away of our friend Francis, only because the Christmas email was not deliverable I searched for news about him to find out the sad news. The last mail he sent was 10 days before his passing. He was an outstanding person, great lover of the music and the mountains - and such a good character with such a long live experience will be missed a lot, especially in these challenging times. R.I.P. my old friend - now you are finally reunited with you beloved Jean, it took a while ...

As a former Rhode Islander, now 70 yrs of age, I want to express my posthumous gratitude to Francis Madeira who, not only only established the R.I. Philharmonic, but the program for school children to attend annual concerts. I attended through my elementary school years in Providence as did my husband, and it was through that exposure to fine symphonic music at a young age that he and I have continued to attend classical concerts both at home in R.I. and Florida, and also at the concert halls of some European cities while travelling abroad.
What a wonderful legacy he leaves.
